Thank you TiVo Community

I was just thinking this morning how much I appreciate this community, and I wanted to make sure I took the time to tell you all how invaluable of a resource you are.

If it wasn't for this Community I would have probably left TiVo long ago, so I feel TiVo also owes you all a huge debt of gratitude.

I'm sure I'm not TiVo's best customer by any means, but we have two lifetime sub'd TiVos and as long as TiVo doesn't disappear, I'm sure we'll be a TiVo family for generations to come.

Thanks again for all your helpful suggestions and for the sense of "Community" you provide!

I am fairly new here but I agree. There is some awesome info here.
It's too bad that, IMHO, that vast majority of TiVo owners don't know of the forums and that the companies like TiVo don't find some way of getting all this info out to the subscribers to avoid negative feelings for the product and, as the OP stated he almost did, eventually leave and cancel the sub to TiVo. People still look to a company's customer support for help and help with authority and NOT the internet.

What is MORE shocking is how the CSR's, with training form the company, one presumes, are often CLUELESS compared to the people on the forums. If one getting the info from "the horses mouth" of TiVo or any other company, can't get it right, then there are certainly cancelled subs that could have been helped and result in keeping that customer. Quite unfortunate.

many simply do not think of going to the internet for help and support. We find that alien since users of this forum obviously think using the internet is a natural thing to do.
anyhow TiVo does have this community linked in the left hand navigation pane on their www.TiVo.com site. Many clued in CSRs actually lurk this forum, though they are likely chided not to give "go to this forum" as advice on a call with a customer.
there will always be clueless CSRs, human nature and all.
Their website is prominently listed on the Start Here poster and in the Troubleshooting chapter of the Viewer's Guide for my Series 2s. There are also plenty of folks on the 'official' forum who recommend this site.

Here's a nice article.

If you're feeling festive, you can wander over to Happy Hour. This silly little forum is just a huge source for questions on any number of subjects. We're not just good for TiVo info! :)
Ditto
The add-ons the users have created, Streambaby and pyTivo, and the instruction and software for upgrading the harddrive have added a lot of value to the Tivo product.
Thanks to all involved.
Ditto. I don't think I would have bought a TivoHD without knowing there were instructions on here for a simple upgrade to a 1TB.

However, as someone else mentioned, it would be nice if tivo.com had a pointer to this site, or something. I owned a Tivo for almost two years before I knew of this site's existence. I hadn't had any problems with my Tivo, so had no reason to search the net for help. Heck, I'm not sure how I finally stumbled on this forum.
