I have a Roamio 4-tuner and thinking I have a bad main board. Is there a convenient way to get a replacement? If I do, is my lifetime subscription now void? Maybe it's time to upgrade? I've had this since September 2014 or thereabouts, so it's been good for quite awhile. My wife had a bunch of recordings that she was hoping to salvage somehow, but I suppose that's impossible until we get a replacement unit, and forget about it if we upgrade.

We just got a new 4k TV and tv stand and everything, come to think of it, it's a more enclosed space with a lot less ventilation than our old one. Maybe she overheated... Anyone seen this kind of thing on theirs before?

Power supply/wall wart is the first thing to check. They go bad. Do you have any old/left over wall warts from other devices or active devices that you can substitute? If not, brobin has listed an amazon replacement which exceeds the required specs. Do a search for him on this forum and buy one. They are cheap.

OK, I found brobin's link but that now goes to a 2 amp unit (it used to go to a 5 amp).

I tried a second power supply with identical specs already, same results. Should I try to find one with higher amperage or is that a bad idea?

Higher amperage won't hurt anything but if you tried a known good 2 amp and it doesn't work it won't help. A device will only draw the amps that it needs. If it needs 2 amps and it's a 2 amp power supply then it's running at capacity and will get very warm and ultimately fail. Having more amps provides more headroom so it runs cooler and lasts longer. If the hard drive is failing it could be pulling more amps and causing a problem.

Let the unit cool down and try again. Is the fan inside running? If it's failed then the processor is getting hot. What are the symptoms you're experiencing? Could be a bad hard drive too. The main board is the least likely thing to fail. Give us some more details so the collective wisdom here can diagnose.

The fan does not spin but the pinouts on the fan header do get voltage; not sure if this is supposed to spin 100% of the time or only when a temperature threshold is exceeded.
The hard drive appears to be fine - I detached and plugged into my PC and it was recognized right away, albeit with a foreign format that I did not touch. The only thing that happens when power is applied (with either of the 2A adapters) is a flickering light on the ethernet port. No HDMI output, no hard drive spinup, no fan spin, no LEDs anywhere besides the ethernet port as mentioned earlier.

I work on servers for a living, thinking she's dead. Is a replacement main board even a possibility, or would that render my lifetime subscription worthless?

A call to Tivo or weaknees.com would get you the answer to that. Weaknees does do repairs and may have boards but they don't list them. If you have a voltmeter just test the power supply voltage for fun. When my laptop power supply failed I pulled another one out of a drawer and that turned out to be bad too!

Good idea, I'll test all 3 (2x 2A, 1x 2.5A) just to be safe, and will check in with TiVo and weaknees. Thanks!

I ended up buying a refurb Bolt 6-tuner with a built-in lifetime sub . Supposedly these support 4k, which the roamio did not. Seems like it'll be a worthwhile investment.
