Hello, does anyone know if a tuner adapter is required for a bunch of channels for optimum on Long Island?

Around a year ago we lost a bunch of channels on the Tivo.

when we call optimum they say a tuner adapter is only needed for a few international channels, furthermore they say, all the channels I do not get on the tivo is just the way it is when using a cable card. Those channels are just not available using a cable card.

For Long Island a bunch of channels do require a tuner adapter.

We picked up an adapter last week. It took 3 days for the tuner to suddenly start working, and now we get a bunch of more channels.

The tuner is on an old firmware. According to a support document on Tivo website the minimum firmware is newer than what is on the tuner adapter.

tivo states minimum firmware version
version STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1901

My tuner adapter:
version STA1.0.0_1520_BDSG.LR_F.1601

A Tuning Adapter is required to receive SD channels, especially the SD only channels. Tuning Adapters are notoriously finicky.

When you say SD do you mean SDV (switched digital video?) or do you mean SD(standard definition, I.e. not HD)

optimum would never confirm which, if any at all, channels were SDV. At least one technician told us no channels need an tuner adapter.
