I've had a couple of tivo series 2 units connected via wireless since the tivo wireless adapters were first available and they have worked reasonably well. A month ago I got fios service to replace my comcast service. Somewhere around that time I lost my tivo to tivo transfer ability though I don't know if it is the new router or perhaps updated software on the tivo side.

In any case, I can see the tivos trying to communicate and in the security log of the mi424wr fios router i can see the denial. This happens regardless of firewall settings or other security changes I have tried. I have no idea why there would be no syn packet broadcast prior to each transfer attempt. When i try to connect I get a message that says the other tivo dvr could not be reached because a connection could not be established.

Keep in mind, these have been connected in the same way for a long time and the tivos are updating properly with the single exception of their ability to communicate to eachother.

Oct 18 00:28:33 2007 Outbound Traffic Blocked - NAT out failed First packet in connection is not a SYN packet: TCP xx.xx.xx.xx:80->xx.xx.xx.yy:4707 on ath0 [repeated 2 times, last time on Oct 18 00:28:36 2007]

I also see fragmented packets periodically on inbound traffiic, occuring at the same time as my transfer requests.

thanks for any help

I can setup the mi424wr in bridge mode rather than buying an NIM100. Here is a good way: well i was going to put a link to the page but apparently i havent posted 5 times and so i can't put links in my post yet... ugh. anyway, search google for "actiontec mi424wr disable router." and check out the dslreports page

I can put the mi424wr in bridge mode and run my wrt54gl with ddwrt as the router.... or i can disable wireless on the mi424wr and setup the wrt54gl behind it and have it act as a wireless access bridge... either way its damn silly that the mi424wr isnt recognizing the syn packets or the tivo isnt sending them
