I think I've about had it with Direct TV.

Looks like I can switch to Fios and go with 1 Series 3 and 2 series 2's for about whatI'm paying direct tv and have my Tivo functionality back

If Verizon FiOS is available in your area, go for it. Get 2x TivoHD for $270 from Best Buy.

You do not want a Tivo Series2 because there are no analog cable channels on FiOS and they are eliminating the analog locals in the next year. With the TivoHD and Series3, you get all digital channels on FiOS.
