No.

Well, you might damage the HDD if you swap cards with power applied. Don't do that.

I am in the process of switching from Fios to Xfinity and wanted to make sure I could still watch the shows I have recorded.

I am in the process of switching from Fios to Xfinity and wanted to make sure I could still watch the shows I have recorded.

I went in the other direction (but from Optimum) 11 months ago. It's just a matter of swapping the cards (TiVo doesn't need to be powered off as PCMCIA cards are hot swappable), pairing the new card, and redoing guided setup. It's a fairly straightforward process. All recorded shows will stay, just the guide data for the recorded show from the legacy provider might show a wrong channel number.
