So, Vince goes home with an idol in his pocket! Maybe Sandra and Rob should have coached him to play that idol!

Also, it sucks to see Tom's name thrown around. He seems like a good dude.
How stupid can Vince be? The idol is only good for two weeks and everyone knows he might have one. Knowing this the odds have to be off the charts higher that this was the week to play it.

They have to change the rules or anyone going to boot camp who doesn't earn an idol is a dead player. And the ones who do have to play it.

Maybe that's why it's called boot camp.

Vince got cocky. I don't really get why, maybe he thought he was safe in the "girls alliance."

Speaking of which, that alliance looks pretty weak right now...lots of disagreements about whom to vote for.

I agree... The way they implemented this, there is an immediate target on your back when you return from the island of the idols... I like the idea, but I think they need to fine tune this...

As soon as Karishma started whispering, Vince should've known to play the idol. Anytime something happens during tribal that you aren't part of, it should be a huge red flag.

Speaking of Karishma, how callous is her tribe to just sit there a few feet away while she was obviously in pain? That is just sickening. At least ask if she is ok.

I wonder why they didn't show Vince coming back from Idol Island? I wanted to hear what he said happened to him out there.

I don't like the new opening, where there is no 'previously on..' and there is a preview of the upcoming episode.

Still loving this season, but the editing on last night's episode left me wanting more.

Did Vince talk to Elisabeth about this experience that only they shared? Did she play him by saying she wouldn't reveal the secret to her alliance but then did?
Really did not one person even bother to even stand by Karishma after she cut her finger and she's lying in the sand by herself? It just doesn't ring true to what we've seen from cast members in the past. Did we miss something?

I'm also with @Donbadabon in hating having previews to start the show. I'm already starting to watch the show. Stop spoiling it for me!

The girls are starting to seem a little too cocky. Chelsea saying they are running things and the guys don't even know it doesn't bode well for my winner pick. The guys clearly do know the situation. What this means for when they swap or merge will be interesting.

Absolutely. Not playing the idol, especially after Karishma started whispering, was just plain idiotic. If I was him, I would have planned on playing it no matter what. The idol was only good for two tribals, and you know that people will assume you have it and potentially try to flush it out. Vince should have stood up and said, "I have no idea if I need this tonight, but I can't blame the tribe if they decided to throw some votes my way just in case I had it. This way, I'm for sure safe tonight, and I'm no longer seen as a threat going forward because of the idol."

Yeah, it was hard to watch. I really felt bad for her. Game or no game, show some compassion for a person in pain.

Yeah, I too felt like they failed to show us an important and interesting conversation between Vince and Elizabeth. There is no way he didn't talk to her about it once he returned.

Are they using new music for the voting at tribal this season, or did they change it in a previous season and I never noticed? The new music is cool, but I miss the old music. It was a fundamental part of the show that remained unchanged for so long.

I'm going to give the tribe a pass.

Karishma seems like she's constant drama. She really didn't send out signals beyond "I'm bleeding" or maybe it was just so soft no one heard. I would be surprised if she is that shy when things have gone wrong in other instances around camp. All we heard was Karishma's take. She felt faint over that cut and degree of blood loss? She could have been sobbing on the ground that way other times before. Survivor will be graphic or warn audiences. It was a nasty cut, didn't look so bad to me.

Everyone on the tribe reacted the same way. For that reason I give the group benefit that this was the girl who cried wolf.

Yeah, I felt something was not right with Karishma's bleeding. When it happened, she was very flat. "Oh, I cut myself" "I see bone". There was no real emotion. She didn't act like she was in pain. I'm not sure I would have really noticed that it had happened if I was in the tribe.

Then she talks about getting light headed - she did not lose enough blood to be light headed - it just felt like she was being a drama queen after not getting the response she thought she should get for cutting herself.

I'm probably cold though... I'm more analytical, organized, and not emotional.

Some people get lightheaded when they see blood, especially their own. It doesn't bother me but when I'm having blood taken the phlebotomists often comment on how some people virtually faint just from that.

Vince == dumb. I mean... really. What else can you say. I sort of get it if he had found the idol and didn't have any reason to think anyone suspected he had it, even if it was good for only two tribals. In that case he may have felt safe enough at this vote between Tom and Karishma, and wanted to save it in case he really needed it next time (which, given his position in the tribe, seems likely). But as it happened... dumb.

I read an article about an interview with Vince about coming back from Island of the Idols:
He said Elisabeth cornered him almost immediately and they talked about it but that he didn't tell the whole tribe. To the tribe he spun a story like this: there were 5 images he had to memorize, then in the dark he had to find and arrange all five to get an immunity idol. He said he failed and that he lost his vote: he said that to try to signal to Elisabeth that he had really lost his vote. That's something else he used to try to force the women to vote for Tom, saying he didn't have a vote so it was up to them. Really, it was pretty smart: it explained why he was gone all night and seemed plausible to both Elisabeth and the rest of the tribe.

I wouldn't want to target someone just for going since I could be the next one chosen to go at random, but I haven't seen anyone concerned about that.

Sandra teaching Vince how to crawl on the ground. That was funny. Even Rob thought it was silly.

Boy, they were hard on Karishma re the puzzle, but hey, if you volunteer you better have the goods and she seemed utterly befuddled.

I also think Karishma didn't give off enough of a reaction for the rest of the tribe to realize why she was over there kneeling down in that position. I can't believe that if they had realized what was going on, they'd all just sit there and completely ignore her, even if it was just to call over the on-site producer to grab a first aid kit.

It was weird, any way you look at it. Her reaction was weird, the tribe's reaction was weird. I feel like the editing left something out here...

That was really piss-poor editing and story telling. This season has some poor elements:

  • Having no "previously on..." segment is not helpful.
  • Replacing "previously on..." with a flash forward to scenes that are going to take place on the current episode is unhelpful as well. You don't need to entice us to watch...we're already watching!
  • Leaving out Vince's return explanation.
  • Are there ANY hidden immunity idols?
  • Has anyone even LOOKED for a hidden immunity idol?
  • Does anyone know that Tom was a NHL player?
