Well that was pretty underwhelming. Once Janet was gone, I wasn't that interested in who won. But, poor Janet, she was 100% sure she was going to the F4 and confident in her fire making skills to make it to F3. She was absolutely crushed to have her idol nullified by Dean.

I guess we will probably never know if Dean's (fake) Legacy Advantage could have been played at 5 people, since he didn't get the chance at 6. Unfortunately another wasted opportunity.

Noura did a really poor job of managing Lauren. In typical Noura fashion, she tried to over explain it. It should have been very simple "If I am next to you in F3, I lose, no question. I think I have a much better shot against Tommy than I do against you."

At the final TC, I actually thought Noura did a pretty decent job and Dean was very underwhelming. I thought the choice was Tommy vs. Noura and that Noura actually had a shot at it. Well guess I was wrong about that. I think that Tommy was probably the right choice of the F3, but I imaging he will fade in the long list of mediocre Survivor winners.

Did Elizabeth say anything at the final TC? I don't think we heard a word from her.

Speaking of Elizabeth, uhm, where was she at the Reunion show? She was not mentioned at all. We knew Dan was dis-invited, but was Elizabeth for some reason? Did she choose to not attend (and would have likely forfeited any prize money based on the standard contract?) The same with Jack(?) At least Jeff mention he "could not attend." I assume he had a very important reason not to?

Kelle's interview was very awkward and I felt bad for her. Despite Jeff commenting that this was the "first" time she had a chance to respond, she has posted several social media posts before. Unfortunately, she seems to be unsure what to say when the spotlight was shown on her.

They had all the hullabaloo about the live Q&A show being pre-recorded and yet if you watch carefully you can see Dean's watch and it's on California time and correct with the East coast broadcast...At 10:15 eastern you can see he hugs Tommy and his watch says 7:15...The only pre-recorded part was the Kellee interview as far as I can tell. Also, they didn't talk to 1/2 the contestants. The reunion shows was maybe 20 minutes without commercials, the wasted time with Boston Rob and Sandra and the Kellee interview..
I don't mind who won. I thought it could have been Dean or Tommy and I would have been happy. Everyone is complaining that "Another guy won" but it's because they HAD to vote off Elaine, Lauren and Janet. Tommy, Dean and Noura knew the could not beat any of those 3 and were smart to get them out.

I thought Dean had it, until he said he'd never go back on a final 2 promise and wound up having multiple final 2 agreements. In the end, I think that cost him. I also thought Naura actually did pretty well and when Tommy and Dean were getting roasted a bit I thought she MIGHT have a chance, but really she never did.

Other thoughts. I agree, kind of a mediocre end to what I thought was a decent season, despite all the Dan stuff. I never got the love for Janet. She was just another in a long line of people "we are supposed to root for" but really had little substance. I thought it was kinda fun when she thought she had it because of the II, but got "bamboozled".

Can we go back to the old format where they had the two hour finale and then the reunion show. For those of us who want to watch the next day, it's a pain to have to go through two recordings until finally, around 10:30 (Eastern) they reveal the winner. I don't like the interviews in the middle of the finale when nobody has won yet. Save it for after.

Kellie seemed to me like a person who didn't want to be there, didn't want to be the spotlight and didn't want to be interviewed. She just seemed like she wanted it all to go away. CBS and Jeff's repeated apologies did not feel at all genuine, and felt like COMPLETE damage control, nothing more. Sorry, you didn't do the right thing, and that's a stain on you and the game. But I guess they had to do that (probably for fear of losing viewered or ad dollars).

Can we talk about S40 now? The worst kept secret in the history of the game. I think for the 40th anniversary an all winners edition is where they should go. And I've been calling on that for awhile. With that said, i'm really sick of seeing some of these people again.

Once Janet was out, then I was more or less rooting for Tommy. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Noura is a whackadoodle, and I would have been ok if she won, but Dean seems so smarmy and slimy. I wanted to throw something through my tv with all the back patting he was doing for himself for that tribal where he blocked Janet.

Also, I liked the on camera bit they showed of Rob from the new season where he said "we have four daughters... it would be a shame if they had to see daddy vote mumma out" :D I really love watching Boston Rob play the game and I'm glad he's back for another go around.

At the beginning, they talked about the advice that had been given on the island of the idols. 4 of the final 5 had received advice there, and the winner did not.
I thought that was ironic. And I thought it was a bit funny how when they mentioned it they kind of backpeddled and said, (paraphrasing) "If he had come to see us, we would have told him to play it just like that". Or something like that. I liked that they got to spend their last couple of days and Rob and Sandra's "pad" and we go to see the "luxury condos" version of Survivor :)

Something else I thought of. I think it was always Rob who presented the Survivors the deal and their options. Did Sandra do that at all? I think that was kind of interesting to do that in these times. Or perhaps I'm misremembering.

From the article:
Because your boy finally got one right.
I stopped reading it RIGHT THERE. This rant probably belongs in the "Things that annoy you" thread, but I absolutely HATE HATE HATE that expression. Dalton, you are NOT my boy, you never will be my boy. You are your parents' boy. I know it's a "hip" thing to say (and using "hip" probably shows my age as well :) ), but it just says to me that you are a self indulgent jerk to think we care enough about you that you would become our boy.

Anyway sorry for the rant.

I thought once she gave her first answer she had totally lost the Jury. Nothing she said after that could give her a chance.

I thought Dean was a little weak to begin with, he definitely hadn't prepared to answer a crossing the line question and I feel that was his undoing. He had made a really good argument about what he did in the game and then Kellee pointed out he did make an agreement with her as did many other contestants.

Tommy said he would be the first GOAT to win but in reality Noura was the GOAT and just happened to win the last immunity challenge.

In this case, what does GOAT mean. I've heard it mean two things. 1) a GOAT is a person who made a team lose. For example John made a critical error in the field that cost his team the game. or 2) GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time. Pretty self explanatory. But I don't think it means either of these things in this case.

In this case a GOAT is someone you drag to the finals because they have no chance to win.

I thought Dean played the best game of the final 3, but he was terrible at the final TC. I liked that he didn't tell anyone until the final that Kellee gave him the idol and then he should have played that up with how dangerous she was and why he helped vote her out the next TC. I don't know that he ever actually stood a chance against Tommy with that jury, but he could have done a much better job. Noura was better at the final TC than I thought she would be, but there was no way she was going to win. She was a terrible player and was there only because everyone knew they could beat her so they kept her around. Her winning the final immunity didn't make much difference for her because she would have been picked to go to the final even if she hadn't won.

My love for Janet came directly from her actions with the 'Dan stuff'. She put the safety and emotional well being of other women above her game, unlike some other players. That had to be very difficult and I applaud her for that. And the fact that she was able to last so long in the game after that really made me want her to win.

Elizabeth didn't go because of the hate that she was getting over the Dan situation. Jack didn't go out of solidarity with Elizabeth. Rumor is that they're dating now.
I wonder if CBS is going to withhold her winnings? Dan was disinvited, but did Elizabeth (and Jack) just chose not to go? Or did CBS also tell them to stay away?

Good question. They weren't disinvited so normally that would be a forfeiture of prize money, but I'm guessing CBS made an exception in this case since production screwed up so badly.
