Ok, after 3 boring weeks this one was better. "Poor" Matt. NEVER tell someone you were considering flipping and voting them off. Ralph's idol is outed. Good TC for Rob. I'm a little surprised they are continuing RI. It's almost as if they decided to keep it around to give Rob a second chance should he get voted out.

What the hell is wrong with Matt and Ralph?! Matt has himself to blame, not God. And was Ralph playing another game?
Yeah I'm sick of the "God wants me to...." stuff. You're good in challenges Matt, not so good at thinking. God has nothing to do with it. And Ralph giving up his idol was hilarious.
I have been rooting for Rob and his tribe the whole time, so it is not a surprise I have been really enjoying the interplay these last few episodes. I like how Phillip has the "sage words of wisdom" and his tribe is beyond just rolling their eyes and now cannot contain their laughter. I don't know if he thinks their laughing with him...but at least he's not getting mad about it. He just likes the attention. He reminds me a bit of Coach, except Coach believed every word out of his mouth was gold and would not have tolerated the laughter without making a scene or picking a fight.

And I was giggling and laughing throughout the Tribal Council because Rob could not have written a better script. And did you see David with a little admiration for Rob. He might flip just to get closer to the "genius."

Matt going to redemption is a little sad, because he never got the chance to play the game with the group. But he only has himself to blame telling Rob that not only was he thinking about flipping but he had a strategy to vote Rob out...he was begging for the vote.

I'm having more fun with this season than I thought I would. Russell is gone because he didn't know how to adjust his game to play with people who could see him coming. Rob is thriving because he is constantly adjusting his game and using great game theory to do it.

I don't know who wins at this point, but it will take a ballsy move by a few people to keep Rob from making it to the DEEP in this game.

If Andrea flips it could get interesting. But flipping with this many in the game rarely works. You just go to being on the bottom of the other tribe. Best to stick with the tribe where you at least have made some bonds.

I didn't think it was his tribe but rather Zapatera that was laughing. It's the first they have been exposed to it. Maybe I need to go rewatch it.

He was one of the only ones that tribe that really understood what happened. It was genius. Good job Boston Rob.

And David was like a rock in the final challenge. I was rooting for him to win. I think Jeff called him a statue.

edit - sorry Mike not David
Rob is playing chess and everybody else is playing tic tac toe.

I think you mean Mike.

True, but I think he took an unnecessary risk this week. Sure Andrea voted with him, but he didn't know that she and Matt would stay loyal. Had they both flipped, Grant was gone.

Seems to me he should have kept Matt happy for one week and vote out Steve this week. The idol still gets played, so no change there. But then next week they could vote Matt out and it forces Andrea to stay with him.

If she still flips, Rob is down in numbers.

Yeah, but it's hard to stay still when you have a fly on your balls...

They even added a caption for that.

I think you meant to suggest that they are keeping Redemption Island in order to give Rob another chance, in case he will need it later. FYP. :)
Not sure Rob played that right. Not sure at all.

And what made Dave say it was genius?
One of my really LOL moments tonight - they go to the second phase of the RI challenge and the caption shows "Elapsed time 15 minutes". Jeff asks Phillip (BRILLIANT Probst moment, by the way! :D), "Phillip, give us some insight - situation like this, what do you do to be successful?"

Phillip starts into the Buschuto code, Andrea starts laughing, eye's roll. Scene of the sky with clouds passing in front of the sun, several other shots depicting time passing, etc.

Caption now shows "Elapsed time 22 minutes". Cut to Phillip still rambling. More shots of the clouds passing across the sky, etc. Phillip FINALLY finishes his thoughts, Rob and others laughing quietly.

GREAT Survivor moment!!!

That was a pretty nasty looking cut on Matt's foot to then have to go into that type of challenge.

MURLONIO - Means "from the sea united"! :D:D:D

Rob: "Murlonio doesn't mean anything! It's just an inside joke between Amber and I. She has a bunch of stuffed animals, and Murlonio is like the ring leader."

How can you not like this guy!!!

Very fun episode.

I'm too lazy to go to the CBS web site to look up who voted for whom, but who voted for Steve? I missed the reasoning for that, I guess.

Agreed. With Matt and Andrea, they had a two person advantage and could have made it three by voting out Steve. Then, they would have had the luxury of voting out one of their own and still having numbers. But now, it's 6-5 and anyone could flip and turn the tables on Omatepe. I hope that doesn't happen, but it's one of the mistakes that almost always gets made by the team that comes into the Merge with the numbers advantage. They think they're invincible and vote off one of their own and the other side ends up with an advantage.

I'm not sure Rob played it right either, but the reason Dave said it was genius is because they were targeting Matt as the potential swing vote and assumed Rob was courting Matt to stay on his side as well. Rob did something they never even considered, and that is to simply remove the potential flaky swing vote so that Zapatera has no low-hanging fruit to sway over to their side of the fence.

That was Matt's vote. Rob told him they were voting for Steve (and Steve would have been gone if that's what they had done), but then Rob and the rest of them turned on Matt. So his vote was hung out to dry.

I think Natalie and Ashley were the two that laughed out loud. Jeff even asked them why THEY were laughing (since they were on the same team).

Rob: "Murlonio doesn't mean anything! It's just an inside joke between Amber and I. She has a bunch of stuffed animals, and Mulonio is like the ring leader."
That was funny as hell. Twelve people and no one even has a smattering of Spanish? Enough to realize Murlonio sounds more Italian, especially coming from a guy named Mariano? :D

Great episode. Add me to the camp that thinks ditching Matt was a master stroke. There's no reason for anyone on that tribe to flip right now. Ralph's idol is gone, they can all afford to pick off 2 or 3 or 4 of the other tribe and see what develops.
