Sunday Ticket HD still MPEG2 this year?

I've moved houses since last year and so I've been without DirecTV for the last 6 months or so.

I'm starting up the process of getting DirecTV so that I can have the Sunday Ticket.

I have a HR10-250 HDTivo that I'd like to use to watch the Sunday Ticket games (including HD). But I remember a year ago talk that MPEG4 was coming and that the HR10-250 can't decode MPEG4.

So my question is: Are the Sunday Ticket games MPEG2 this year, so that I can watch them on my HR10-250? Or when I sign up, do I need to lease an R15 because some of the games will be in MPEG4?

(I don't care about the interactive stuff like MIX.)

Thanks!

I think you're a little confused. :) MPEG4 conversion is for HD only. So an R15 isn't going to help you there.

But anyway, Sunday Ticket, both HD and SD, should still be MPEG2 this year. There really isn't enough time to do otherwise as the new sat won't be ready in time for the start of the season. But I'll just add that you never know. But there really isn't enough time to do it this year and get everyone new receivers.

In 2008 it's expected that Sunday Ticket HD games will be in MPEG4 only, but the SD games will still be in MPEG2, there is no SD conversion going on. So your HR10 will still get SD games for the forseable future. But you'll need an MPEG4 receiver (H20 or HR20) for the HD games next year.
I would like to see the NFL Network channel in HD.
Once the the new sat is up and running and you have the correct equipment.

I'm sure DTV will mirror as many SD football games as they can in full HD.

They already do this with the discovery channel and a few others.

Oh, they do already show as many HD NFL games as possible to those with the SuperFan add-on to Direct Ticket NFL, but I am talking about the regular NFL Network channel which broadcasts some games throughout the year, such as the extra game at Thanksgiving.

I believe that is one of the channels scheduled for September. They already show the games in HD on Channel 95.
