Subfolders...

Anyone see any resolution to this problem yet. I have a ton of movies on my computer in folders and it won't show up on the now playing list. Since the new update Galleon doesn't work either? Any help...

I experienced the same problem with my Galleon and TDN subfolders--I think it started after a recent TiVo update, but I'm not 100% sure. In any case, the workarounds you listed previously in another thread stopped working for me, too:

There is another workaround with TDN. When you go to the TDN server press right on one of the folders and then right on one of the programs within the folders. If you then back out by pressing the left arrow it resets all the folders again. Another way is to back out and go to Tivo suggestions but that is takes longer."

Initially, I found that by rebooting the TiVo, the problem went away but lasted only for one entry into a subfolder. After that first subfolder was opened, all other folders continued to erroneously list only the files from the first folder. This would get better again after a TiVo reboot, but as I said, only for opening one folder.

After tiring of this, I finally stumbled on something that works for me longer-term:
a. Open a folder where the incorrect contents are listed, press the Enter button on the TiVo remote control to enter the Options menu for the folder. Toggle the Grouping option to OFF. (My options are set to list files Alphabetically, and with Grouping enabled).
b. Exit the options screen and reenter the folder that should now be listing individual, ungrouped files
c. Press Enter again to go back to the folder options screen and reactivate Grouping to ON
d. After you back out to the folder contents again, your previous workarounds work again (for me, anyway).
e. The workarounds seem to continue to work (at least they have in my case, for the past two days) without having to reboot the TiVo or repeat the above sequence.

Caution: nested folders more than one level deep do not seem to respond to the above.

Hope that helps. If you come across something easier, please post!
Cheers.

Anyone know if Tivo desktop plus handles Subfolders better then Tivo.net an pyTivo?
I know before 9.1 I had issues trying to get my app to allow subfolders, but something on the tivo was screwy and it wasn't behaving. I should have 9.1 now so I'll check it out and see if anything fixes it.

Tivo desktop 2.5 plus doesn't show folders (unfortunately) but it does seem to work pretty well otherwise. I have successfully converted a file using 2.5 that Pytivo couldn't do. You have to put shortcuts in "My Tivo recordings" folder and then it list everything as one long list. I hope they support folder view in the future. The only one that works well for me is Pytivo. It shows subfolders very well.
Tivo dot net also posts folders very well but unfortunately I don't think it knows not to convert files that don't need to be converted (ie. Mpeg-2 files that could be directly transferred over). Otherwise I would use tivo dot net for everything and screw tivo desktop.
Thanks for the new workaround yas. Unfortunately, mine only works for that session. Once I leave and come back to it I have to redo the options menu thing. Anyway, it's probably the best workaround yet for me.
Sicklybutsexy,
You're right. I noticed that after I leave the Now Playing List, I also have to redo the options menu workaround.
However, here's a speedier modification to my earlier post that makes it a little less tedious:
Rather than going through the entire sequence to toggle the groups option on and off, all I need to do is to hit the Enter/Last button twice on the TiVo remote. (This enters the Now Playing List Options screen, but then immediately reexits without changing any of the settings). The folder contents will again be reset if you enter the folder using the select or right button, click on one of the program contents with the select or right button, and then back out again using the left button.

Happy clicking!
Thanks again. Even quicker. Of course, it would be nice if Tivo fixed this ridiculousness.
