Still running 8.1?

First of all, nice to be back... I was an owner of the original TiVo (That HUGE black box).. then a slimmer series 1, series 2, then a D*TiVo, but was sadly forced away from TiVo last year when I upgraded to HD. After the latest price decrease, I rushed out and got the Series 3 HD and now here I am.

Anyway... how long has it recently taken for new boxes to upgrade to the most current software? I've been set up and hooked into a phone line (Waiting for 50' ethernet cable to be delivered) since Thursday. I even forced a couple of calls as per the literature that came with my new box, but I haven't even been upgraded to 8.3 yet, let alone the 9.1 that some are reporting. Cable card installation was this morning and all is working fine... Just eager to get the "Latest and Greatest".

If you bought the TiVo HD and not the S3 then you will never get 8.3.1 as that is an S3-only version. As to 9.1, that is currently in a limited release. If you force a connection a few times and don't get it then you'll just have to wait a few weeks like the rest of us.
If you have the Series 3 Tivo, there are three upgrades that will need to be installed before the 9.1 version gets to your Tivo..
One of the Tivo techies here stated that a predetermined units would get the update to find out how buggie it is...
Maybe they are Tivo's beta testers... Who knows, the rest of us will have to wait... As we have been for the pixelation problem to be resolved...
I was hoping this latest update would address the pixelation issue, I don't use the Wish List feature, so this upgrade is of little use to me..
I guess I have what everyone is calling a "HD" not a "Series 3"... I guess I was confused because the information screen says that I'm running on the Series 3 platform. I just assumed both were running the same software, but now I see that the HD is running on different software than the S3.

Anyway... I guess I do have the "Latest and Greatest" with 8.1.c

I was hoping that I was missing the fix for that horrible DD audio clicking. I hate having TiVo set to PCM and missing out on 5.1... Hope it's fixed for the HD by the time Lost starts up again in February. Thanks for the responses!

That's not how upgrades work - when you get an update, you will get the latest version that your box is authorized for. You don't "step up" through any intervening releases.
I'm just going by the experience I had after bringin my Tivo home... Even wrote down the diff version numbers...

Still waitin on this patch for the pixey problem... think it will ever be resolved jfh3?
