Just curious how many people are still having pixelation problems with FIOS and their Tivo HD? I continue to get very bad pixelation on many HD channels. The curious thing is that all of the pixelation problems occur on channels between 500 and 600 MHz.

I just jumped on the forum because I too was just experiencing this issue on channel 803 (abc HD) and I noticed the sticky. I switched between my Motorolla FiOS DVR and Tivo and only the Tivo was pixellating. I checked the signal meter and it was pegged at 100%. I'm wondering if the signal needs to be slightly attenuated. I know its pretty strong coming out of the ONT, and it was designed to be strong enough to split at least 8 ways. I think I have an attenuator laying around, I'll have to try it.avantsbs said:
Anyway, I forced a reboot and now, it's not pixelating anymore...so maybe it was just a fluke for me but the show also happened to change durring my reboot (same channel though.) So lots of variables changed....I'll report back if I find anything else out...seeing as I just replaced all the motorolla DVRs (except for one) in the house with Tivo HD's, I'll be very upset if this is a constant problem.

I have no problem with pixelation on channel 803 or any of the FIOS HD channels on both of my TiVoHD boxes. The tech did put an 8 way splitter on the output of the ONT since he said it was so hot. I'm only using 4 outputs on that splitter. One for each of my TiVO HD boxes, one for the Actiontec, and one for the FIOS HD STB. He didn'tr want to put anything less than an 8 way splitter because he said the signal might be to hot for some devices.
Yeah from my understaning the 8 way is standard with all FiOS installs...and it makes sense, they support up to 7 stbs and all installs require the cable modem for VOD and guide data, so they install an 8-way from the start and assume your house is wired for the "max." (even though the ONT can support far more than 8 devices, the 7 limit is a billing system issue, not technical.)aaronwt said:

Well, my install used a 3 way splitter with a 3 dB pad. That gives me about 8dB of attenuation on the signal while your 8 way splitter gives around 9 dB...not much difference there. I still get macroblocking on many HD channels making them completely unwatchable. While this is going on, my signal strength varies from 100 down to 0 while RS uncorrected continuously increases. I called Tivo and they claim it is still a known issue, but they don't know when a fix will be released.
I'm starting to think it may be a Verizon issue, though. Has anyone had any luck getting verizon to fix a pixelation issue from their end? I just hate to take a day off work for Verizon to come out if it's not going to help.

I've had this problem on-and-off, which makes it hard to diagnose. However I think I finally fixed it (now it'll start happening again, of course).
1) I have an amp/splittter/signal cleaner as my main splitter. I know the amp part isn't necessary with FIOS, but the cleaner seems to make a difference for me.
2) For the S3 in my HT, which is closest to the split (i.e. least attenuation from the cable length), I added a -7db splitter right in front of the Tivo, just to attenuate the signal some more. When I did it at the splitter, this didn't help as much.
3) For the THD in my bedroom, I replaced the crappy RG59 with a new RG6QS and crimp connectors (something that's everywhere else, I just never did it there).
It seems that both boxes are now working well, although again this is a hard thing for me to test as it's sporadic at best. However HBOHD on my S3 was very often pixelated, and it hasn't been since I did this, and SHOTOO was also often pixelated on my bedroom, and it hasn't been since.
Who knows if this really fixed it, or if Verizon did something at the same time...

I'm not sure I understand. Are you having problems or not having problems? I believe the original poster was only interested in HD TiVo issues, rather than S3 issues. Although, I personally am interested in FIOS issues with either the HD TiVo or S3.

I'm in NoVa (Loudoun) and have really only experienced blocking on the Speed channel and so far just once in the 10 days the TiVoHD has been active (fortunately it didn't nuke the F1 race).
Signal from the ONT goes to an 8-way splitter (only one other TV connected), then 3-feet to my TiVo.
