My, my... what deviousness is Soji's "sister" Sutra up to? Playing with and then releasing Narek?

Did she get "infected" by the Admonition information in the mind meld? It almost seems like "Russian interference": drive a wedge between the organics and synths and make them hate each other.

I'm a bit excited to see who the "synth cavalry" is... any guesses?

I'm assuming it's a simple case of her agreeing with the notion that for Synth life to continue to exist and flourish, that all organic life must be wiped out - because organic life will always view synths as a threat. Maybe the Romulens today, maybe someone else tomorrow. And she's now been given the information necessary to make that a reality (the information contained within the admonition).

Letting Narek out, making sure he murders a Synth on the way (or maybe just letting him out, then she murdered the synth), is just a means of convincing the other Synths that organics are a threat. (And as far as plans go, it seems to have worked).

I'm a bit excited to see who the "synth cavalry" is... any guesses?
Dunno. Flip a coin, it could be an ancient race of real ascended Synths, it could be an ancient race who legitimately hates synths (and thus are tricking them into revealing themselves), or just a evil race using them to cause chaos.

Did we know that Dr. Noonian Soong had real children, or is that a retcon?

Also, I still don't trust Agnes. I think she's still up to something.
I said it before about a month ago but thought I was wrong. Now I have to wonder...is she a synth? She's definitely got another arc to her character we haven't seen yet. This is one of the best "last episode before the finale" I have seen lately.

I may be the odd (!) person out, but I found this episode to be the least satisfying of all the episodes. Not much happened, and it just felt like a place-filler. I reached the end and then wondered, "that's it?"
I kinda agree, there was something missing, and I can't really put my finger on it. There was just something... less spectacular than hoped for... about what transpired on the synth home world. For everything that led to this, finding the colony of synths was just somehow bland, and having a artificial leader with a secret plan wipe out all organic life before organic life declares them a threat, it's been done before. (Most recently on The Orville). And I'm sure the flower idea worked better in someone's head than it did on screen (that happens). And now we've crashed the Borg cube, taking it out of play, so that's gone.

We'll have to see how Part 2 plays out, but I agree that Part 1 failed to continue the momentum and energy (especially compared to the last episode).

I have to admit that super orchids that can take down a Borg cube are giving me pause.

And I don't know about Picard ending up in the Golem body unless they intend to hire a new actor.
"What do you mean that I have this amazing body but I still look like a 93 year old man?"
(Stewart will be 80 in July.)

And what's up with that "Thank you for coming" "message" Picard said?

Sutra is indeed trying to force a confrontation that would definitely involve genocide (on one side or the other) so some high stakes coming up.

Yeah, this episode is basically a setup episode for the finale (next week I think? it was a 10 episode buy). But the good news is we know there's a season 2 so at least the cliffhanger will be resolved, unlike some other shows that end on a cliffhanger and get cancelled.

I think the golem is for Data, because that's one of the big characters that's been missing the whole time and the whole setup of this season has been all about synths. If I was to make a prediction, that's how the whole thing will evolve - Data 2 will be brought online just as the synth war reaches its climax with the activation of the synth overlords. Season 2 we'll have Data 2 being the guy to do the truce as the only one both sides trust - the synths know of the legend of Data, and Picard well, it's pretty obvious there. Plus Picard knew of Data's idiosyncracies which is where the basis of his trust of Data 2 will be founded.

But that's pure speculation and guessing. It's fan service, after all and Data still remains the one major beloved character still gone and conspicuously absent. Outside of the first episode, there really haven't been any more flashbacks. (They could always put in more if they wanted to) Plus we know Picard longs after Data, it's what's driven the series so far. It also makes sense because it's something the writers could alter in the final episode in case it wasn't renewed - Data's back!
