Star Trek: New Voyages: EP3 World Enough And Time (possible Spoilers)

Anybody check out the latest episode? I grabbed it from the bit-torrent link on their site, but it may be available for direct download.

The first couple episodes were weak in my opinion. Episode 2 with the original actor who played Chekov wasn't too bad.

George Takei (sp) I thought did a good job in this one.

I thought this one was a decent story, good acting by "most" parties, and the effects and quality of the production were very high.

Seems like they are getting a lot of writers, producers, actors, and production crew from the Star Trek universe involved in this one.

I am curious what people thought of this latest episode?

I enjoyed it. In fact I thought it was better than most of the originals. A lot of story development.

Did anybody wonder about the presence of Chekov in this episode given the previous one.

I want to like these, but I just can't. The production values for what is an amateur endeavor are impressive. However, on the creative end, the dialogue is clunky, the acting is stiff, and they just keep dipping into the "time rift" well as an excuse to bring in actors from the original show.

The one exception in this case was the woman who played Sulu's daughter, who was so good that she made the other actors (including Takai) look just terrible by comparison.

She was really good, but I don't think Takei was bad. He was much better than Koenig was in the last one.

I thought the story was pretty good. They are doing a nice job on sets, effects, etc. I appreciate that fans are driving it, but I think if they want to be taken seriously they should get some real actors. Some of them aren't too bad, but the guy playing Scotty really stinks, IMO. I read the other day that in the next episode, professional actors will be playing Uhura and Spock.

My complaints start with simply acquiring the show.

I'm downloading the first two, but it looks like the third "World Enough and Time" is available either streaming (ugh) or via bittorrent (which I'm not set up to do).

For the second epsiode, half the websites mirroring it were either broken or over their download quota. It's like playing whack-a-mole trying to find a site that has the download.

I'd be happier if they charged us for downloading the show and used the $$$ to pay for an actual download hosting site.

I bailed about 7 minutes in. Ow. Ow ow ow. Badness, sheer unadulterated badness. This is the stuff MST3K would destroy.

The guys playing Chekov and Scotty were OK, but that's it. Kirk - well, yeah, I know, apparently it's his sets and mostly his money, but nothing at all like Kirk. As for Spock, they couldn't have made him more effeminate had they actually hired an actress to play him. Scotty was like a cross between the old Scotty from "Relics" and Norm from "Cheers." And McCoy - well, the only way I figured out it was him was by process of elimination.

The sets are pretty good, and effects were about video game level, which in itself is pretty good. But acting was, as said before, wooden as all heck, and so over the top campy it's not even funny. Everyone seemed to have this smug tone to their acting as if to say "HOLY [email protected]%! We're playing the guys from STAR TREK!!!! The guys back at the comic book store will never believe it!!!!"

I would never put myself through any more of this. Ugh.

I really enjoyed the last one with Takei.

The sets are good, the effects aren't bad, the acting isn't that great... but the stories are good.. in most cases, I think written by past Trek writers.

I think this is middle ground, in preparation for the re-cast Star Trek X

This one was originally a script for "Star Trek: Phase II". The Chekov episode was writting by D.C. Fontana.

I was lucky and saw this on a moderately large screen at Worldcon in Yokohama. (It was also shown at the NASFIC that was supposed to be in St. Louis but was actually 25 miles away and in Illinois)

I thought for a fan ran production it was pretty good. Kirk was the weakest character unfortunately. The daughter was played by an excellent actor. (so was the old Sulu

)
