I think I'm actually at peace with it. Yes, there were way too many "leaps of faith" of every kind in the whole episode, but they had positioned everything so this would work. I honestly thought Book would die making the one important jump (but then he couldn't, because how would they get back?).

Although Su'Kal being the cause of The Burn is not what I wanted, it was an interesting and different cause that is generally better than Bad Guy Of The Week. Seeing a mother die like that would send anyone over the edge.

Overall it was enjoyable, predictable and somewhat trite, but it had a few good moments. I loved Book kicking Zareh out the turbolift. Interesting to see the interior of the ship like that.

The Dots seemed to make cannon fodder more than anything. How the hell did the sphere data fit inside it, or was it split across multiple Dots? In which case what happens to the data when a dot gets destroyed? I sure hope there's a full backup somewhere.

Season 4 is already filming so with a little Google Fu you can find out about returning cast members for the upcoming season.

The sphere data DOTS didn't wear red, so they were not cannon fodder.

With the Roddenberry quote and OS theme at the end, it had the feeling of a series finale. If I didn't know that they were already in production on season 4 (and 5), I would have been questioning if it was the end.

I assume the idea of them delivering dilithium throughout the galaxy will be short-lived.

Well, once they've delivered a few shipments, then there will be other people able to do the deliveries and Discovery can be used for more urgent matters that require instant rather than merely fast transport...

So Star Trek: UPS might only last for part of the break between seasons...

Agree on the 1st part. I guess I agree about the 2nd part now that I think about it.

I started a thread at work on this and thought I messed up as part 1 wasn't the previous ep. From DIS Season 3, part 1 was S3:E1, which makes sense now.

I was surprised that the Emerald Chain was defeated and all.

I'm impressed that the music for this season turned out to be quite good despite Jeff Russo having to use a "jigsaw" method (Composer Jeff Russo Confirms Remote Recording Of 'Star Trek: Discovery' Season 3 Score Has Begun) due to COVID.

Yow that was a lot of leaps of faith.

But all i see is it's the end of one story arc and now onto the next arc. Each season seems to be one arc, so it could be a series ender if it needed to be. We're past the "We've gone 1000 years into the future and need to figure out what happened" arc, so the next season will be after that.

So yes, a lot of Star Trek: Diplomacy with gifts of dilithium and probably something new happens. Probably the rebuilding of the Federation and re-establishing everything again.

What gets me is that after 1000 years technology hadn't evolved enough to figure out another way to travel through space at faster than light speeds without the need for dilithium. Book's spaceship was about the only example of advanced technology I saw this entire season other than the cool badges with their built-in transporters and other functions. I would have never guessed that they jumped that far into the future if they hadn't told us.

This did feel like it was a series finale, especially when they played the original theme music and showed the quote from Roddenberry. It's good to know that the show will continue on for at least a couple more seasons.

I liked it a lot.

Some dislike when Trek gets emotional. I like when they do it. I thought the exchange between Hugh and Gray (and Adira) when Hugh says to Gray that they will make sure everyone "sees you"...very powerful. Disco has written this season in ways that allow it to mirror the current lives and situations that Ian Alexander and Blu Del Barrio have been experiencing. This really works for me.

Let's Fly works for me. Personally, being CBS AA, I was kind of hoping for a little more of a colorful metaphor...perhaps more like "Let's effing fly."

If I Am understanding things, each DOT is a copy of the others or something like that to have redundant copies of the sphere data. So the data should be safe.

etc. Now let's start looking forward to Picard S2!

Plus technnology advances exponentially. 900 yrs from now I see life like that movie WALL-E. Everybody sits in recliners and is served by machine. I dont know what things will look like but they wont be "similar" to what we know now. But...I think if Gene Roddenberry could see what he has wrought, he would be quite satisfied.

If a race had that type of technology 200,000 years ago, why haven't any other races still on the show today able to create SOMETHING to travel great distances besides starships?

I enjoyed the season finale. Although I have the same complaints as everyone else, I seemed to be excited and cheering along.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Moore's law for example, has been reined in. The computer I buy today is not twice as capable as the one I bought 18 months ago.
