Stand alone Tivo w/ directv please dont flame

I have searched, but I am still having problems!!

I am trying to get my tivo set up, as I just moved and now have directv instead of cable. I am using a D10-300 Directv reciever and a Series 2 standalone tivo. I have the input to the directv going to the tivo to the TV. I am still trying to locate my ir cables but should I not still get a picture and/or sound?

Please help I'm getting frustrated!!

How do you have the TiVo connected to the TV? If RF, then the TV needs to be tuned to ch 3 or 4. If composite, then the TV needs to have the appropriate input selected. The TiVo also needs to know what its source is and what input will be used. For control you need to connect the IR emitter.
I have composite going from the receiver to the tivo and then rf to the tv. Between the tivo and tv i have the rf split to my exercise room right below. I am able to get through everything on the tivo just no picture or sound from DirecTV, only tivo menus/sounds. Sorry I should have been more clear the first time.

Thanks,
Ryan

Okay, so the connection from the TiVo to the TV is fine. Let me ask you this... is the DirecTV box powered on? (You'll need to use the DTV remote) The TiVo won't turn it on or off, just try to change channels.
If you had it hooked up differently before you moved, have you re-run guided setup to let it know you're using the composite inputs now?
As the OP said they moved and went from Cable to Directv so i am willing to bet they have not re-run quided setup :D

So: Re-run quided setup.

Also, with the D10 you are better off paying $6.95 or so from Tivo.com and purchasing the Low Speed Data Cable rather than using the IR Blaster. No messy wiring, no sticks, and you get 100% channel changing.
Okay thanks guys I got it working. I let it sit for a day and then it said I needed to set my input selection. When I first re-ran guided setup I couldn't get a picture and I set it up everyway possible, but then I just hit select and then BAM there is a picture.

Wolf - the D10-300 doesn't have any data port.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
Okay now just 1 more question.

When I change channels it takes a few seconds for the DirecTV to change channles. The tivo changes instantly, just cuious if there is a setting. I somewhat remember choosing that I have to hit enter after entering the # with directv.
Any suggestions?
The Ir cable connection is like that. On my 540 Tivo the OTA channels change quick, just like cable. But DBS channel changing is slow, and occasionally doesn't work to be honest. A lot depends on the receiver. So you might or might not have an issue there.

The serial connector is better, but you'd probably have to get an older D* receiver. I don't think the newer ones have that connector.
You can tell the TiVo Enter is required, to change channels on the satellite receiver.

I was trying to find that again to make sure I have that set correctly. Any where to get to that w/o guided setup again?
