Sound level fluctuates with latest software version

I've noticed a few times that when watching analog stations that after a pause the audio will sometime shift from mostly coming out of the center channel to coming out of all the speakers simultaneously. Usually an instant replay fixes it.

I've also had issues with audio pops and weirdness with the bee-doop sounds when FFing.

I'm using HDMI to a receiver.

This is getting annoying. I could have the volume set at -29 on my receiver (louder than I would set it normally and prior to this update), and if I FFwd or pause and hit play again, the sound will be WAY too loud (adjusting down to -35 or -39).

I'm hoping there's a fix for this in the works...

Yeah there are all sorts of craziness with the sound in the most recent release, especially with analog recordings. It got annoying enough for me that I moved all my analog SPs over to my S3 instead.

Yeah, I've also noticed some of the sound effects don't play, especially when performing an action in quick succession (e.g., hitting instant reply 3 or 4 times).

Yes on a all counts.... The sound effects are horribly bad. Either they are chopped or nonexistant regardless of how you set up Tivo's audio stream. As for the change in volume, I've noticed my receiver sees the stream differently sometimes after FF'd or pausing and the volume/channel distribution changes, all of which result it apparent volume changes.

Yes and the continual upsets and breakups in the digital sound stream cause all sorts of lockups and problems with the decoding reciever. I have to stop a program stream or change streams all the time to get the sound to correct. The Premiere has always been a bit worse on this than the TivoHD but the latest software version is horrid.

The volume fluctuation can be startling when I finish FFWDing and I about get blown away by the sudden increase.

I wonder if this could be another symptom of poor multithreading, which is causing some sort of buffer overrun or underrun in the audio circuitry.

Yes, I got this problem when I got the first test rollout of 14.8. I'm using HDMI instead of opitcal. I have to either power cycle my tuner or turn it to some other source then turn it back to get the sound back.

This is getting really aggravating. After enough times where the sound level jumps up way high after fast-forwarding, I've just about become conditioned to mute the receiver any time I fast-forward, rewind, etc.

Hoping there's a fix for this soon.

This just happened to me very clearly tonight. We were watching the news, and I hit the skip-back button so we could catch something we missed. The dialogue became much louder and sounded funny, like it was out of phase or something. I hit the skip-back button again, and the dialogue went back to normal volume and tone. This was very distinct - definitely a bug.

I'm using the speakers in the TV, so the TiVo is feeding sound over HDMI to the TV. I also have it set to do the "Dolby Digital to PCM" conversion.
