Sony VTXD800U and ITV1+1

Other than it taking a couple of seconds to display the initial picture (sat on the blue "unable to display live tv" screen for 2 seconds before displaying the programme) - which I've been unable to repeat - mine seems fine Steve.

Thanks for trying - I guess it's something in the stream for ITV1+1 from the Oxford transmitter that my box doesn't like. Anyone else with one that's also served from Oxford?

Oddly - I found that ITV1+1 was breaking up this morning after reading you post.

I don't have Sony kit.

My channel 33 is STV+1 (so obviously not from Oxford like you asked,) but like spitfire, mine's fine too.

You'd think if your ITV1+1 channel keeps blanking out, then the same would happen with ITV1?

Hope it sorts itself out asap!

ITV1 is fine, so have deselected ITV1+1 from Channels I Receive.

Does anyone know how to make the Sony freeview box always use 16:9 letterbox rather than messing about with this silly 14:9 nonsense? I'm sure someone posted instructions to access the service menu either here or on Digital Spy quite recently but I can't seem to find it now (not that there's necessarily anything helpful in the service menu...)

The PDF file you are looking for is called:-

From memory the service menu key sequence from standby is "1, 9, Left, Blue" but I don't remember there being any options to force 16:9 letterbox.

Sorry if it seems obvious but have you tried setting the VTXD800U to output as if to a 16:9 TV? Even if your TV is 4:3 it might still respond to the scart widesreen switching and do the 16:9 letterbox itself. It may not help if your TV doesn't support letterboxing, or you are watching via RF rather than scart, but it is the only way I can think of to avoid 14:9 letterboxing with this stb.
