Sometimes get black screen and no sound instead of recorded show

For some time now I have had this problem with my white Bolt: I will try and record a show on the local CBS station via cable, and occasionally, I get nothing but a black screen and no sound upon playback. It only seems to happen on this one station, and not every time. Is the problem with the signal strength coming into my home from the outdoor pole? They tried fixing that once but the problem has come back. Is it the cable card? If I switch from cable to an indoor UHF antenna will that solve it? That's not an option for me because I watch TBS on occasion and low flying planes passing over my home (I'm near an airport) will break up OTA reception. Has anyone else had this problem getting a silent black screen?

This sounds like a tuning adapter related problem.
Where in the world are you located?
What cable co?
Does the cable co require a tuning adapter?

I'm in Council Bluffs, IA, close to Omaha. Cox is my cable company and I do have a tuning adapter in my setup.
What TiVo model? When you tune that problem channel what are its Signal Strength and SNR in Diagnostics? When you get the blank recording, what does History say about it, if anything?

I suggest putting the tuning adapter on a timer to cycle the power off for 10 minutes once a month.

Once a month isn't a magic thing. Some users feel they need to do it once each night or once each week. My impression from this forum is this power-cycling isn't needed at all for Motorola TA's.
