Hi, a problem cropped up yesterday, out of the blue: a season pass didn't record when it should have.

Turns out there's a bunch of them (but not all) which say 'no upcoming episodes' but the episodes are there to be found in TiVo's EPG. When I go looking for them by title, they don't appear in the alphabetical listing either, even though they're in the EPG.

The problem might be affecting just a particular subset of channels, including BBC2, C4 and E4, but I'm not sure about that.

Last guide data call was yesterday evening and was successful, and a reboot hasn't made any difference, nor does editing one of the affected season passes.

If I manually choose to record such a programme direct from the guide it works.

Is the best next step to "clear programme data & to do list"?
Thanks for any advice.

Do not do this....there is nothing wrong with your tivo. It's poor guide data from Tribune which is to blame. I have a SP for Watchdog which also failed to record and I had to set another SP.

Post your SP errors in http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=29736 as it will alert other owners, who may have the same SP as you, to potential problems.

While there may be Season Pass problems, the above comment makes me think it is something else. Even if the Season Pass has changed you should still be able to find the program when searching the alphabetical listing.

If you go into the System Information screen, when does it say that the last Indexing happened?

I too have seen a few SP's which stop working but once re-created work fine, or the occasional rogue episode that an SP doesn't catch. That doesn't look like what I'm seeing here.

For example, I deleted one of the old SPs (for Spooks on BBC1) and tried to re-create it via the next episode shown in TiVo's EPG. I get "The Recorder is currently unable to set up a Season Pass for this programme. Some information about this programme is still being organized. Please try again in 1-3 hours".

System Information reports last indexing was 5th Oct 1:32am, which is ages ago; it's usually done every night isn't it?

If you're getting your guide data via your network you could try the solution that worked for me and several others which I documented here and just involves switching back to dialup to get indexing restarted, then go back to network.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm getting the guide via standard dial-up, not network. It's a plain, vanilla 2.5.5 TiVo with no hacks, apart from a hard drive upgrade which was done years ago. I'm aware that you can telnet into the box and do magical things but I've never tried that. I would prefer to try some simpler solutions first.

OK, it was relatively easily fixed. For any one facing the same problem: I repeated Guided Setup, answered all the questions exactly as before, and after a few hours re-indexing everything looks fine. Hopefully it will stay that way.
