Some channels won't tune

I have never had this specific problem before. It is not a general tuning adapter problem as I do get at least some SDV channels. The channels that won't tune are almost all of the premium channels except one HBO and one Showtime and occasionally a couple on each. No Starz (maybe once in a while one will tune in). Also can't tune into at least a couple of basic cable channels. Spectrum tech was here for two hours without any luck. It affects both my Roamio and Bolt with the same exact problems. I suspect it is some kind of signal problem.

If I go into diagnostics it shows the channel that is not being received as no signal strength.

Just taking a flyer here to see if anyone else experienced this issue.

Well, you say its not your TA... But each time my premiums go out, I can reset my TA and nomrally fix the problem.

If the tech could not fix it, I would suggest asking them to replace the cable card and try again. Too few techs that know **** about cable cards and TA's. You could also ask Spectrum to send a supervisor. I did that before when the 2 techs could not fix a TA issue and got the issue resolved.

Good luck.

The tech was on the phone most of the time he was here consulting with supervisors/techs including confirming CC pairing..
As I posted, the issue is affecting both my Bolt and Roamio. Also, as I stated, I occasionally get some of the premiums as well as some known SDV channels so it is not likely either a cable card issue or TA issue. My best guess is that it some kind of issue with the signal.

Could be.. About 5 years ago, I has a signal issue problem and Charter (Spectrum now) told me it was my TiVo. Charter gave me a DVR to use and guess what.. Charters DVR had the same issue. That was the only way I got Charter and a supervisor out to my house. 2 other techs did not find the issue that the supervisor found in less than 5 min. He did start in my house replacing ALL the drops. No change. That's when he called a line tech. The line tech found an issue in the pedestal a few doors down. A signal booster was replaced. Once that was fixed, all is well....

It would be a PITA, but you could take your TiVo to the cable TV's office and test it. If it works OK.. you know its an infrastructure issue and not your TiVo.

Good luck and be safe

I had a similar issue, I swapped out TiVo for a Spectrum box I have. It had the same issue, so I called, they had to replace a bad coax from the outside box to the living room.

Thanks fellas. Tech coming out again today. I'm almost afraid to let them use a Spectrum box because if it works, they are going to say it's my TiVos.

I went through most of my channels this morning and a ton of them are not tuning- a lot of them that I don't watch so I was unaware of the extent. I still get some SDV channels so it's not likely the TAs. And once in a while I can tune to a problem channel and it works and then next time, no go.

Yup... Tivo is guilty until proven innocent.
Tech is still here. Spent three hours, went to lunch, came back. No idea what the hell he is doing. On the phone most of the time. He actually brought a Roamio with him. Thank heavens it had the same symptoms so they can’t blame my equipment.
I still think there’s something going on in line somewhere.
Tech spent about five hours. Mostly talking on the phone with specialists on cable card devices. As I said above, he brought a TiVo with him and it didn't work either. This confirmed that my equipment is fine. He also brought a Spectrum box, and it did work. So the verdict is that it is something at the head end something that just affects TiVos and they will try to find it.

I have to hand it to Spectrum for really trying to fix this problem.

Okay, this was finally resolved yesterday. Have to hand it to Spectrum, they were diligent if not timely in resolving this. They took one of my TiVos to their plant and it worked there so that ruled out the headend. They then replaced almost my entire coax runs. That didn't do it, I knew it wouldn't. I told them from the beginning it was something in their system as the problem started when there was an outage for a couple of hours.

Sure enough, they finally went and checked the node where the fiber comes in and where SDV takes place. Damaged equipment. Fixed. Had me reboot TA and voila, everything is working.
