Time to send 1 guy and 1 girl home.

Top 19 perform a Sonya routine.

Melanie and Marko are safe.
Missy and Wadi are safe.
Iveta and Nick are also safe.

Ashley and Chris are safe.
Jordan and Tadd are in the bottom 3.. WHAT?!?
Caitlynn is safe.
Clarice and Jess in the bottom 3.

Keri Hilson performance.

Ryan and Ricky are safe.
Miranda and Robert are in the bottom 3.
Sasha and Alexander are safe.

LOL they showed Jeanine and Phillip's season 5 Gopak performance and said how much it sucked!

Gopak performance. The name of the dancer I will need help with!

Solos

Michell - I thought he did alright.
Jordan - A nice sexy solo.
Tadd - Very impressive, BBoy's are pretty amazing.
Clarice - Another hot babe but not sure she did much in that solo.
Jess - I think the odds of the judges voting him off are next to zero.
Miranda - I think I liked hers the best so far.
Robert - Entertaining solo.

Lady Gaga video debut. She is also going to guest judge later in the season.

Judges want Michell and Robert to dance once again.

Wow Nigel says nobody is going home tonight.

Two couples will be going home next week.

What a cluster! Certainly didn't look planned as it came off kind of bad.

Drama!
I don't get the love for the chick in red (haven't got their names yet - Jordan?). She's trying to hard to be a pole dancer/stripper and I don't like it. Clarice is a sexy dancer without it looking like a strip tease.

I did really like the red chick's dance last night (at least I think she's the one that performed first).

I didn't like Robert's solo either time I watched it.
I said to my wife that based on the auditions/vegas and pre-stuff, Melanie was going to be one to watch.

The contemporary dance she did with Mike Chang was so frakkin' amazing.

I will go on record and say she will at least be in the finals and is my early pick to win it all.
I say Nick is the one to watch :)

I guess I understand why they decided not to send anyone home but I was so excited that Erkel was outta there.

Which girl was going was pretty much a toss-up.

It must stink if you get saddled with a lame partner for the first 5 weeks.

Jordan and Tadd opened the show with the African Jazz number choreographed by Sean Cheesman.

As for Jordan's style -- I saw dancers in the audition rounds who also wanted to do the "sexy dancer" schtick and were really cheesy and awful (and not at all sexy). One of the things I liked about Jordan's audition piece (to Beyonce's "Naughty Girl" -- which I linked to in the performance show thread) was that the dancing captured the character of the music, and it was pitched just right. It was wasn't just raunchy and nasty; it was sensual and playful. Naughty.

But it also struck me as a style that wouldn't necessarily translate well to the 30-second format of the solos on the show. IMHO she should have a different plan of attack if she ends up in the bottom again.

In the offstage bits, she was a goofball -- it would be great if the choreographers could make use of that and bring some of it out into her routines on the show.

I loved the audition piece for all the reasons Mary said in the after-audition comments -- the self-confidence, the mastery. And it was fun to see her render Tyce speechless and to see how red Nigel can get when he blushes. :D

I loved the African Jazz piece, so I hope Jordan doesn't get booted. I want to see the choreographers make her stretch. The 'Naughty Girl' thing was fun, but now we've seen that. I want more.

I think the judges really wanted to keep Mitchell and get rid Robert but thought it might seem unfair due to Mitchell not dancing. I would have been fine with it since I don't like Robert yelling woo every time he is on camera but the audience seems to like him so I think the judges had second thoughts and didn't cut anyone.
I agree with your synopsis on Jordan, murgatroyd. I liked her audition ok - I didn't think it was fabulous, but I thought it was tasteful enough and danced well enough to proceed. I guess, like you mentioned, that I just didn't like seeing more of it. It seemed to be pandering to the men (which if it lets you stay, is really not a bad thing, I suppose).

I suppose it's rather evident that I'm not a dance person. I don't know any of the technical details. I just really enjoy watching people dance.

There was one thing I wanted to ask about the group performance from this airing. I think it's super cool that these girls can do the splits standing up (I think that's called doing a leg extension?). Has it gone wrong when they do MORE than the splits? I'm probably going to fail to explain this properly, but when they go beyond creating a straight line and actually pull their top leg more towards their head? I noticed that one girl was so flexible that she did this while the other three of four that were dancing with her at that moment held their bodies in an actual straight line split. Or is it more awesome because they're showing that they are more flexible? Just wondering.

Jordan's audition piece was fine IMO.
But doing it again in a dance for your life in combination with saying her ambition was to be a Pussycat Doll pushed her past the point of good taste for me. I want this show to be better than that.

Legs extensions, huh?
Otherwise know as the HMV move?
