The video on my HDVR2 has some very slight stuttering... Not blatant or obvious...but when watching, there is some very brief (sub second) stutter...

Unfortunately, I am not watching a lot of TV these days... I have only been watching some law and order reruns on USA... Could be that this is source material from the DirecTV feed...

Any ideas? Could this be early signs of hard drive failure?

I upgraded the unit myself years ago...and I kind of forget how to prepare a new drive replacement... That might need to be my answer though...

My understanding is that the Series 1 (my Sony SAT-T60) still has the 137GB per drive limitation, but that I can now go with any sized drive on my HDVR2... Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks all...

Having the same problem here. Although mine seems to be a little more pronounced. I was looking at the upgrade kits available and $150 for an 80GB hard drive seems a little steep but if I can truly network my DTV HDVR2, it might just be worth it for that alone. Does anyone have any feedback on what may be causing the stutter other than a hard disk problem? Any feedback on the upgraded hard disks available through the Tivo community? Thanks for any advice.

You don't have to be very computer-literate to image a new hard drive using instantcake (www.drvupgrade.com) and save yourself a lot of money. I'd say the hardest thing is installing the hard drive into a pc on right cable. Put the cd in the computer, start it up and follow the prompts. $20 for instantcake and whatever deal you can find on a standard ide hard drive. Hard drives last from 3 to 5 years max so if you have a Tivo that old your due to replace the drive.

So I read a few other topics and decided to reset the box, hoping that would take care of everything. I got to the "cleaning and deleting everything" screen where it says "do not unplug, this may take up to an hour." That was two days ago. It's still on the same screen. Any auggestions? Is it even possible it would take this long to erase everything and re-start?
