i have an old series 2 thats been working fine.

i had the rca audio outs running to a boombox that was controlled by the tivo remote.

i've switched out the boombox for another set of powered speakers.

Q: how can i reset the remote to control the tivo box audio (instead of the boombox)

the new speakers aren't controllable by a remote, so i need volume up/down controlled from the tivo box itself.

The TiVo itself can't change the volume... Audio from its outputs always comes out at a fixed volume.

If you connected the speakers directly to the TiVo, then you're probably out of luck. If your TV has a variable audio output, you could connect them through your TV and then configure the TiVo remote to control the TV's volume:

If your TV only has fixed audio output, you'll probably have to connect the speakers to a stereo receiver, and configure the TiVo remote to control the receiver's volume.
