Shameless - OAD 2/5 **SPOILERS**

Hi ALL,

There wasn't a thread so I figured I would start it!

A VERY wierd show but quite entertaining! I have a few questions though:

1. Wasn't Steve forced to leave town, I think by the neighbor cop who was going to turn him in for stealing cars unless he left town. If so, why is he back? Isn't he risking going to jail?

2. What was the barbeque for and where was it held. Who paid for the food? And why was the lady detective there?

3. Who was the guy Lip bumped into and why did Lip goad him into fighting. Is Lip self-destructive and wanted to get some pain because things were not going his way.

Frank really has stooped to new lows in trying to get money. First he tries to get the pension of the lady dying of heart problems and intercepts a call to her for the transplant. And now he's trying to get Eddie's death benifits and/or pension. But now that Eddie is dead Sheila is free to marry and we all saw the look on Frank's face when she said that!!!

That's how I remember it, but the neighbor cop is now living in the house that Steve bought, house sitting till Steve comes back.
Maybe Steve left town because of something else illegal he had going on.

One of the neighborhood ladies who killed her abusive husband and is now in jail. Most likely Pot Luck as neighborhood barbecues tend to be.
I assume the lady cop was part of the case, felt sorry for the wife, but had to put her away because killing is "bad".

He was one of the kids of the bbq honoree, used to be abused by the now dead husband/father.
Absolutely why Lip picked the fight with him.

I keep hearing about Karen taking a leak on her Dad's grave? Was this during the credits? I always stop watching right at the end before the credits. I also didn't see the plane wheel drop. Guess I shouldn't stop watching at the end of the eps?
Yes, it was soon after the credits started. They usually have a scene lasting a few seconds in the middle of the final credits.

Hi phox,

Thanks for the info. On the lady who killed her husband, was that shown in a previous episode as I don't remember it. If so could you give a real quick re-cap?

Thanks,
Gerry
You know, I'm starting to get the impression that this family might be a little messed up...

No, it was just talked about when they were discussing going to the bbq.

I've always stopped at the credits, didn't want spoilers for the next episode, as they are usually a lot more dramatic than the episode itself.

Happened to catch this by accident, was checking tweets or something and forgot to stop playback.

Now I'll watch the credits.

This show is always credits of a page or two then another quick scene. Kill it after that so you don't see the preview.

I am curious why Frank is not trying to scam the airline for some $$$ he or Sheila could have been seriously injured. Also it was totally out of character for him when the wheels fell to follow Sheila inside instead of faking an injury so when they cops arrive they can write the report and he can get some money and some disability.

I think he was so overwhelmed with gratitude that Shelia wasn't going to make it to The Alibi and find out he doesn't actually work there (plus the many other horrible things she would find out about him) that it didn't occur to him to scam the airline.

What about that creepy Little Hank's father ogling the youngest daughter?
One thing I find really funny is the girl who plays Debbie has no idea what half the things going on are. In an interview with her and Emmy she said she has no idea what half the dialogue means because she is too young and her mom won't explain it to her and only let's her watch her scenes of the show.

I wonder what the kid who plays Carl thinks. I wonder how is parents handle it.

Really? I've found Frank to be such a relatable guy.

Absolutely loved the lecture to Lip, "The best gift you can give a kid is neglect."

Frank has a one track mind. He is trying to get Sheila's husbands life insurance right now. He can't focus on two scams at once. :D
I like how Frank said murder wasn't his thing. What exactly does he think he did to Dottie?

I think we are talking about a grey area sort of like a lie or a lie of omission.

No, there is nothing grey about it. He knew she was guaranteed to die without a new heart and he denied her that heart. He directly caused her death.

Well, that's INDIRECTLY. He would directly cause her death if he ran her over with a car.

But still pretty scummy, and something for which he could almost certainly be held criminally liable.

He caused her death. You minimize it by calling it just "pretty scummy"? You make it sound like just a mean practical joke. It was evil and despicable. And I have no problem with it because Frank is a fictional character that I very much enjoy watching.

I agree with you completely...except by saying that he directly caused her death, which is flat-out untrue. You can't change the meaning of a word because you don't like somebody.
The cop isn't house sitting. He bought the house from Steve. Steve used the money to run. Cop is fixing it up for himself, to either live in or sell. Depends on how he feels and how Fiona feels about him.
