'Servant' - Apple TV+
My take:
Expected weirdness given M. Night's involvement
The actors are not disappointing
Most characters are unsympathetic.
What is with the wood splinters?
I'm seeing "red" Easter eggs that need 'splaining.
I wasn't at all pleased when the nanny used the wife's lipstick.

These two women look eerily like:

(I avoid skinny straight haired brunettes going forward.)

I really enjoyed it. Much more than I thought it would. Was glad with the twist at the end of the first episode (i.e., the doll "turns into" a real baby). Since, before that twist, it was very much reminding me of a movie from a couple years ago, in which a couple hire a nanny to care for their young child (of around toddler age or a bit older), and when she shows up for her first day of work, she learns the "child" is actually just life size doll: The Boy (2016) - IMDb

I briefly considered that perhaps the baby was real the whole time, and it was the husband who was bonkers in thinking it was just a doll for some reason. (i.e. such that when he discovers the baby, he's now seeing reality.) But after the introduction of the brother, that does not seem to be the case.

This is my favorite AppleTV+ show by far. It's creepy and interesting. That said, I can't see how this doesn't crash and burn into a hate-worthy show after a couple of late-season reveals, or a protracted lack thereof.

Yes...very enjoyable M Night fare. At some point a baby was switched or we are wrong about who is delusional. The splinters must have meaning. How about the effin eels,? I can't see myself EVER eating one. Was it just M Night playing the visitor?

Binged all three last night with my wife and Thing 3; we are definitely hooked. Kind of wish that the trailers didn't spoil the initial twist so it loses a little in the e01 reveals. Strong vibes from The Boy, which for me isn't a bad thing.

I am having a hard time figuring the social/economic strata of the Turners. I don't know a thing about Philly, but aside from the insane basement and wine cave, their home looks pretty normal upper-middle class to me. Julian saying that Leanne could maybe squeeze 80-100K from whatever con he imagines she is running adds to this as well. I know plenty of people with live-in nannies and 0% of them refer to their nannies as <snooty nasal voice>"the staff"</snooty>.

Spotted M. Night immediately as the Hear Hare Here delivery man.

I don't think Nell Free looks anything like Allison Williams. ;).

I would have kicked his ass out when he took over the crib...WTH??!! Not to mention what he did during dinner.

BTW, knew I've seen Dorothy and Leanne. Dorothy is the young sister in Six Feet Under and Leanne played Myrcella in GoT.
