Tried to order a Tivo Series 3 over the weekend from Circuit City.

According to the CC web site and 800 number, all of the Circuit City stores in the SF Bay Area are out of stock on the unit. So no in store pick up is available !

Is this a temporary situation? Or has the Series 3 been replaced by the Tivo HD ?

Is the S3 being pahsed out, or discontinued? Since Tivo HD came out I don't see many S3s on the shelves.

I think it would be hard to sell an S3 next to an THD. Usually the units aren't operational in the store so you can't see how cool the display is on the S3, ither than that feature for feature the S3 would appear to be a bad buy to most people.

I wouldn't have bought an S3 if it were not a so highly discounted open box item.

I just got my S3 last week. Ordered it online from CC. $599
I almost got BB to price match it, but after they agree they claimed they were out of stock and would need to come back in a week.

So you could give that a shot. The BB I went to had one on the shelf, so I assume they still carry them. And all I did was ask if they price matched and they said yes...checked the CC web site and it was all good (until they went to go look for one in back).

Just a though though.

I bought the last S3 in stock at the Freehold NJ store two weeks ago today. I know they had at least two in stock on Sept. 16 when the rebate began. The other one was purchased on that Sunday by another TCF participant.

I checked the CC Web site for in-store availability and there are none in stock in a 30 mile radius from my location in Central NJ. A check of the NYC stores shows only one store out of 10 within 13 miles of midtown Manhattan has a least one unit in stock.

It definitely appears that the S3 is being replaced by the HD.
