I just had a software update this AM...

V8.0.1a-01-2-648
That version is almost a year old.

The Tivo will download 8.3.1 the next time it connects to download guide data, which could be a few days from now.

If you don't want to wait, open Messages & Settings -> Settings -> Phone & Network and force update ("Connect now") until that screen says "Pending restart." It may take a few of these connections before it downloads the software.

Once that Phone & Network screen shows "Pending restart," you can force the immediate install by selecting Messages & Settings -> Reboot. The update installation will take up to 90 minutes -- during which the box may not appear to be doing much -- so don't do it when you have important recordings scheduled. Do not interrupt the update in that time or the Tivo may revert back to 8.0.1.

Just got this Series 3 Tivo on Sunday so it may take awhile to get the current version
Not if you go into Phone and Network settings and connect to the Tivo service.

While at work the software updated to Version 8.3.1-01-2-648

Now I'm gonna strap on the external drive... bout tyme too
Give the Tivo a few days to finish indexing before you add a second drive.

Be aware that a number of people have reported problems using the Free Agent Pro 750 for eSATA drive expansion, as noted in the FAQ. It's hit or miss.

Thanks for the advice, will do that... Tried calling Bright House yesterday to have the cable cards paired to the S3 to no avail... Shoulda had the gal connect me to their dispatcher, but what the heck...

Need to know if there is a signal loss/leakage in the transmission line...

When that error message appeared yesterday " Poor Signal Quality" I freaked...

Had my S3 installed yesterday and I'm also on the old software, 8.0.1a. Had a few reboots and ran guided setup again and now it seems stable, with both tuners working properly, which they weren't after the initial install/guided setup. Looking forward to the new software.

Other than that, the S3 is wonderful! VERY fast compared to the hr10-250 which always had a slight lag with every button press and extremely slow guide data even after the update. Also, the guide looks beautiful, AND, the BEST remote ever!
Worth the added cost of the S3 just for the remote. :)

Mine worked well for the first 24 hours... Bought it Sunday last...

Then the dreaded pixels started to crop up as was the case with the Tivo HD unit...

Hopefully this second "Fix" will solve this issue it appears all too many are experiencing with both Tivo's...

If not then I'm going back to DirecTV

I hooked the TivoHD up this morning in preparation for Comcast coming out and my unit is currently at version 8.1.7b2-01-2-652. I've been trying to force the upgrade but after a restart it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm connected through the ethernet.

Thoughts?

That is the latest version.

Latest for TivoHD: 8.1.7b2
Latest for Tivo Series3: 8.3.1
