I recently purchased a TiVo Series 2 DT DVR. I want to hook it up to my DirecTV Sony SAT-HD200 satellite receiver. On page 129 of the TiVo instruction book, #6 shows a Channel Changing connection using the serial connector that comes with the TiVo box.
It states:
Use the Serial Cable if: your satellite box has a 9-pin Serial (data) jack.
Plug the Serial cable into the 9-pin Serial (Data) jack on the back of your satellite box.
Plug the other end into the Channel Changing/Serial jack (the upper control jack) on the back of the DVR.
On the rear of my Sony SAT-HD200, there are two serial ports. One is marked: RGB-out (I know not to use that one). The other serial port is marked: Authorized Service Port.
Do I use the "Authorized Service Port" for the TiVo channel changing serial connector
 or am I doomed to use that IR channel changing device
 ?
Thanks
