I swear I did a search. I swear.

My season passes for the following programs are acting weird. Season passes for the following...ER, Without a Trace are new on Thursday, 10/4, but they are showing that they won't record because, "the same episode appears in the now playing list or the to do list within 28 days..." I don't want either of them recorded every time they are on, especially ER. (Isn't it on 20 times a day?)

In addition, I have CSI Miami set for "First Run Only" and it is in the to do list every time it is on.

What am I missing?

I assume you created a season pass for Without a Trace on CBS-HD and not some other channel like TNT? I would double-check that. If you set a season pass for Without a Trace on TNT, that is a repeat. The same goes for ER. Remember, season passes only record from the channels they are setup on.

The Tivo keeps a record of the programs you've recorded in the past 28 days. If you've previously recorded an episode, it will display that message and not record again. It will only display that message for a new episode if the guide data for the program is complete wrong -- making the Tivo think that a new episode is actually an old, repeat episode that you've already recorded in the previous 28 days.

Depending on when your Tivo last downloaded program information, it is possible that guide info will be fixed before Thursday. There are times when the guide data info for a program can be wrong (say 1-2 weeks in advance), but the Tivo automatically reconnects to download new and updated guide information every 48-72 hours, and those errors are usually fixed well before the program actually airs. You can force the Tivo to update its guide information now by going to Settings -> Phone & Network -> Connect to Tivo service.

After you've verified that your season passes are actually setup for the correct channels (i.e. NBC for ER and CBS for Without a Trace and CSI Miami), I would probably set the Tivo to record those manually this week if they haven't shown up in the To Do list by Wednesday.

ER is having that issue because it is actually running overtime.. to 10:01 and starting at 8:59 sometimes as well.

The problem happens when the network decides to start a show 1 minute earlier :)59) or run a show over :)01).

This of course causes conflicts, espeically if your trying to record with both tuners on the hour previous & hour... such as you are recording 2 shows from 8-9 and two shows from 9-10. If one of the 8-9 shows runs over by 1 minute. It will cause a conflict with one of the 9-10 shows.

TGC

You can check a shows info and see which show it is. It will show a show length or 1:01 or 1:02 in "Length of show".

It is that extra 1 or 2 minutes that causes the issues.

Make sure you have overlap protection enabled under Settings -> Recording.

With overlap protection enabled, you won't miss any recordings due to early start or end times. Tivo added this feature last spring, IIRC. Some people disable it because they don't know what it does, but it's important to keep it enabled so you don't miss any shows due to :59, :01, and :02 network scheduling.
