Haven't used this unit before, and it's been in my possesion for about 2 years. Was thinking of selling it, so I took a look to see if it would boot. It did and this is what I see. Is it possible that the lifetime activation is inaccurate? I remember a time when people were having their access cards upgraded or something and maybe this unit was one of them. Not sure if someone did anything to the HD or not.

Is there any number to call to verify that this unit has lifetime. And is this lifetime transferrable to any other TIVO? Probably not.

Software version still says 2.0-001-011

THanks for your thoughts and help

My understanding is that lifetime is not tied to the unit, but to the account.

Yes, lifetime is/was tied to the account, so the information you are getting is old and out of date. Anyone buying the unit will NOT get lifetime. I guess the previous owner had lifetime and it's probably still in use somewhere, but there is no extra value in your box.

The lifetime was linked to D* and is nothing to do with the lifetime account on a "real" TiVo, so no, it's not transferable.

Thanks, that will make it easy. I will now post the thing for sale and include some of the pics of the startup screen. Not sure what the unit is worth now, with HD being the new thing, but at least I have some of my facts straight now.

Thanks
