S3 Remote unresponsive twice since 9.1

My batteries are new... In the last week, I've had the remote become unresponsive - just makes the timpany drum sound no matter what buton I press. I had to power off the TiVo, and then it was working after the hard restart. It happened again yesterday. That's twice this week. Is this a common problem? Is there an easier way to "unstick" the remote than powering off the unit?

Have had the same problem here with S2 boxes and 9.1. Pulling the plug is the only thing that worked for me.
Hopefully they are aware, and 9.2 will fix it. Thanks -
I assume we are talking about "completely" unresponsive and not just sluggish?

I recieved 9.1 on my S3 in early October. Lately I have noticed my remote not responding to the first keypress. Sometimes I need to press it twice to get a response from my Tivo. On other occasions I get a "key bounce" where it will scroll down two menu selections instead of the one I expected. It has gotten difficult to navigate.

Anybody know if this can be related to 9.1 or is my four month old remote already failing? Are there any other reports of S3 remotes failing early?

Perhaps I should wait for 9.2? I haven't tried navigation from the front panel yet. The position of the TV relative to the Tivo makes this a bit difficult at the present time.
I think it's the 9.1 software. I have universal remote and have had the same problem.
FWIW, I have had the same issue since 9.1 (only being resolved but pulling the power cord). At first I too thought it was dying batteries. But after a new set the issue has continued -- three or four times now. It seemed to happen when the TV was left for a while. I should also note that I was using KidZone. In fact, since turning KidZone off a few days ago, I have not had a dead remote/hang...

Anyone else with these issues using KidZone?

I've seen the same problem with the 9.1 release. I'm glad that I'm not the only one to notice it. I find that I have to press the remote multiple times to get it to function. Usually, this seems to be related to letting the user-interface be idle for a while (when coming home from work at night).
I received 9.2 today and still have the problem with the S3 remote. I tried pulling the plug a few days ago while still running 9.1 and it had no effect.

Again, this is not a complete failure to respond to the remote, just failure to respond to some keypresses and also some key bounces. The light on the Tivo fails to flash and I get no sound effect, just as if I had not pressed the button at all.

I wish I had another remote to try.

Hm... I can't see the light on my TIVO, since it is in another room. However, this does seem like the same problem I'm seeing with 9.1. Bummer that you are still seeing this with 9.2. I wonder if Tivo knows it is a problem.

Do you have a lot of space on your Tivo, or is it an unmodified unit?

My Tivo is unmodified. I have about 80 hours of suggestions recorded. Most programs are SD since I haven't installed CableCards and am not yet recording in HD.

I noticed today that if I wait about one second between key presses Tivo seems to respond correctly. But if I click away at "normal" speed, it misses some and double clicks some.

This leads me to believe it is too busy processing something to process the remote correctly. Can anybody else confirm this?
new batteries, same lock-up. Same tympani sound, even when I push the buttons on the front panel. S3 seems like garbage compared to my good old S2. If this is a software bug, then this is effed up...
I saw this for the first time on my S3. TiVo was receiving Teleworld, I tried to switch tuners. The light on the front of the TiVo was flashing showing it was getting the signal from the remote but nothing was happening no matter what I pressed. I finally gave up and switched over to the TV tuner because I was in a hurry. Tonight the TiVo is fine. 9.2.
All - have a similar problem here.

Recently the S3 remote will control the Tivo normally, but then just stops. No light flash on the box, but the remote light does flash.

When switching to a S1 remote, that remote will work and control the S3 box for a few minutes, then it will stop.

Switch back to the S3 remote and again works for a few minutes.

Must be something on the box since both remotes control the S3 box fine, but only for a few mins at a time.

v9.2

Any hints to fix appreciated.
