S3-- FSN HD not working, all other HDs work

I have a Series 3 with two cable cards in Ann Arbor, MI.

When they were first installed, Fox sports detroit HD (channel 201) was working fine. However, I've noticed the channel no longer works on either card. At first I thought the game just wasn't offered in HD, but the game is listed in HD in the program guide and also on the Tigers' website. Of note, the other HD channels all work great.

First, is anyone else having trouble getting this channel? (especially tonight's game against the D-Rays). The non HD channel works fine.

I just got off the phone with Comcast with a rep who had never heard of cable cards until a few days ago. Clearly, he was of no help. He tried sending a pairing signal to the cards, but nothing changed. I have restarted the Tivo, but still no channel 201.

What are my options? The only thing the Comcast dude offered me was sending a tech out for CC replacement (I said no thanks).

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

I have found that the best way to get Comcast to solve the "missing channel" problem is to call them and navigate thru the menu maze as though you wanted to upgrade your service. When you get to a live person ask them to verify what lineup you should be getting now. If you don't get what they say, tell them you have cablecards and ask for a "authorization hit" on the cards. Stay on the line and verify that it works.

Tried exactly that. No success. They verified that I should have that channel in my lineup and they sent an authorization hit. This did not fix the problem. I also noticed that AETV HD (channel 200) is not available. I never noticed that before since I never tuned to that channel.

Any other thoughts/suggestions? She said she could send someone out but I'd like to avoid that if possible for obvious reasons.
I'm hearing others report that this channel is all pixelated on people's regular Comcast HD boxes. Would this cause it to totally drop out on the cable card?

Are you getting a Channel Not Available message (indicating improper authorization) or just a grey screen (possibly indicating channel strength)?

I'm no expert on how channels and frequencies inter-relate, but it's possible that the problem is a weak signal that only affects certain frquencies.

If a tech is coming out he could check the signal strength. If not, you could try a in-line amplifier (10dB) on the coax before the Tivo.

It's just a grey screen. I'll try the amp and see if that helps. We have notoriously weak signals here, but I've never had a channel drop out completely before if that's what it is.
I have had a similar problem in the past. Did you try to reboot? It worked for me.

I tried this many times. I'll try the amp next time I'm home during a game. It makes it hard to check since the channel is only active for games!
I tried the channel with the amplifier connected last night and it still does not work.

Any other thoughts? I have comcast scheduled to come out today but there won't be a game on when they are here so there is really no way to check and see if it is working or not.

Help! Thanks :)
Ok, I fixed it myself. :)

I had comcast come out, and they sent a few hard hits to the cards and then the channels started working. But then, a bunch of other movie channels and mojo stopped working. I would get a CC pairing menu when trying to tune those channels. I read up on this in some other threads, and noted CCI 0x02 when trying to tune those channels.

I had the tech call comcast and repair both cards and re enter all the numbers from the cards, and now they both work great. :)
