Am I the only one with A/V sync problems on digital teir stations?

Seems that any program recoreded on stations above 100, tuned via SA cable cards have audio sync problems.

Is this a TiVo, cable card or Time Warner problem?

Just curious, how is the audio hooked up to your TV and/or Receiver?

I've got an older receiver without HDMI, but it does have Optical and Coax digital inputs.

Especially on my older comcast dvr (when I had it before TiVOHD), I've noticed at times issues with the video from the HDMI not perfectly in sync with the audio through optical. What was even more annoying is that the audio from the HDMI was not in sync with the audio from the optical, so I had to mute either one....

HDMI 1.2 and earlier spec have known video/audio sync issues, especially with devices that also output via optical digital. How much the problem is noticed is completely dependent on the tv and equipment used, and also how the setup is wired.

HDMI 1.3 is supposed to fix these issues along with PQ improvements with color, etc.\

I haven't played around enough with TiVOHD to see if the same issues persisted.

Just curious, how is the audio hooked up to your TV and/or Receiver?

It's connected via optical cable (6') to Logitech 5.1 digital speaker system. This sound sync problem does not occur with OTA recordings or analog stations (below 100.) Nor is there a problem with sound sync. when playing media from my HTPC to the same speakers.

I've having sporadic audio sync problems with my S3 too... I just posted a reply in someone else's topic about audio sync problems:

I've been suspecting HDMI issues.

I have a lot of trouble nailing down the cause. As I've focused on it, I tend to notice slight problems all over the place. But, there are times when the problem is quite noticeable.

I've noticed the problem often while watching "Damages" on FX, which is below 100. I'm using Comcast with dual CableCards (maybe all s3 users are?). Though, I've also noticed often while watching NBC Nightly News in HD (I think, channel 707, for me). It may be that some shows lend themselves to talking heads, so it's easier to notice it.

My setup has the S3 connected via HDMI to the TV, then I run "select out" audio cables to my receiver from there. The sound from the TV and the receiver are always in sync. So, I'm sure it's not some issue with my received (which is old and only has left/right analog stereo connections).

One time, I ran a left/right A/V audio line directly from my S3 to my receiver, and it seemed to resolve the issue. I was still using HDMI for video to the TV. But, then other stuff, I think lower channels especially seemed worse, with audio preceding video. Normally, for me, the problems seems to be audio lagging slightly behind video.

I'm wondering if I may just have a bad S3 and perhaps I should get a warranty replacement. It seems like most people don't have audio sync problems.

I've got audio sync problems on all HD channels. I am using component video, no HDMI. Comcast is the provider.

I have audio sync problems. Some programs are horribly out of sync, some are just slightly off. All that I can remember are on the digital channels with most of them being HD content. I have Time Warner San Diego
