Rookie Setup - did I mess up already???

Hey All -

The Elite and the N Adapter came today - first issue - I can't connect to my network.

First Question:

Can the N Adapter connect to a G Router?? I have an N Adapter on my XBox360 - and that works like a champ. After reading the directions - it seems to say that I need a 2nd N Adapter. . . REALLY??

If the answer to the above question is "yes", can some kind soul point me to the "Dummies Guide"?

You only need a second N adapter if you want to have an N network for your TiVo without upgrading your router. Otherwise, the N adapter should connect to your existing G router just fine.

You need to connect the adapter to your PC and setup your network settings/security before it will connect your Tivo to the network.

N is backwards compatible with G.

Next question - put in my zip code - and channel lineup. No Problem. It then asked for premium channels (I have them all). It then said to hit "select" to pick channels - but - they were all already checked. So - I just hit the right arrow. Was I correct - and their instructions completely counter-intuitive, or what?

You can go back and edit which channels you receive at any point. This will not affect anything except it will give you a cleaner guide and autorecord wishlists will work if you select all the correct channels you receive.

Bedtime - 1 more question - Amazon VOD says that the DVR has to be activated. I call TIVo - and - it is activated - they say that it needs a CableCard??? I'll be getting a cablecard within the next couple days - and already got Pandora and Rhapsody - but - that didn't sound right - is it?

Tivo CS thinks you are referring to the Cable's OnDemand. You can try and login to Amazon and have it re-link to your Tivo.com account.

Amazon just hasn't updated that list. It does work on Elites. http://amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/tivo to link your TiVo and Amazon accounts, set your purchase pin, etc.
