I have a 7-8 year old Roamio basic that is running TE4. I have both a 92 and 93 mini also running TE4. Recently my Roamio will skip recordings with the history showing "No Signal", yet when I turn on the TV, not only is there a signal but the active channel is the one that was scheduled to record. A couple times I have checked one minute after a show was supposed to record and there most definitely was a signal. The couple times I've left the TV on, the Tivo has correctly recorded, but it's such a small sample that I don't know if it always works leaving the TV on.

The two minis have become very unreliable. By that I mean sometimes when I turn the TV on and the little box saying "Hit Tivo or Live TV" is moving around on the screen, if I hit TIVO or Live TV they just freeze and I have to unplug them and then plug them in again. Other times they work like normal. A couple times after turning on the TV and hitting Live TV, I'll watch the channel for 30-60 seconds and then the mini will black out the screen and put up the message saying that the main Tivo is using all the turners. Hitting Live TV keeps giving the same message. Then I go to the main Tivo (Roamio) and turn on the TV and check all four tuners. None of them are recording, and they're all receiving a channel. So I go back to the mini and press Live TV and it works.

I don't know if these problems are TE4, or some hardware issue. I want to go back to TE3, but seeing the messages about older minis not being able to downgrade back to TE3 have left me in limbo. Any suggestions as to what may be causing the main problems and/or how to downgrade would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an update to my original post:

The main problem on the Roamio where shows were not being recorded with a reason of "No Signal" seems to have been caused by my power supply. About a week and a half ago, my Roamio would not boot up after it's weekly power cycle (to keep the tuning adapter happy). Instead it just blinked all its front lights. So I replaced the the power brick with a new 5A power brick. That not only fixed the inability to boot up, but since swapping in the new power supply, I haven't had any programs skipped because of "No Signal". My guess is that making a tuner change channels increased the load on the power supply and because it was marginal at best, sometimes the channel wasn't tuned at all, or took longer than the Tivo expected. Of course a week and a half is limited testing, but it was happening fairly consistently. I'll post an update after more time has passed, or the problem reappears.

My mini problem seems to have been caused by my blocking one of the domains that are used to load pre-roll adds in TE4. After unblocking all Tivo domains the various mini problems disappeared. Plus, I have successfully downgraded my Roamio and minis to TE3. So no pre-roll or guide ads at all and much quicker boot times and snappier UI.
