Our Roamio Pro began experiencing video issues over the past few days. The initial TiVo screen at start up (TiVo logo) is clear, but beyond that, it’s completely distorted.

I’ve attempted restarts and swapped out the HDMI cable with no luck. I’ve also tried switching the hdmi input in my receiver.

I’m guessing this is a hard drive issue. Just frustrated because I purchased from weaknees in January.

I wonder if the box is running hot. If you have a small fan, you might try that blowing onto the Roamio box and see if that helps.

Of course, you shouldn't have to do this and you likely should contact WeaKnees and/or TiVo with a warranty claim. Note that the TiVo warranty has more complete coverage during the first 90 days after purchase, which you may be up against now, and so you may want to make a preemptive claim ASAP if the period has not already run. https://tivo.pactsafe.io/legal.html#tivo-dvr-limited-warranty

Thanks for the info. It's weird because it typically happens first thing in the morning when the box shouldn't be hot. I may try a fan and will definitely be contacting TiVo and WeaKnees. Unfortunately, I believe I hit 90 days about 3 days ago but do have a 3 year warranty through weaknees. Thanks again!

Whew! :) The TiVo warranty itself goes for a year, but only the first 90 days includes "labor"--I believe the way they have done it is from 90 days to a year, you pay $49 for a warranty claim (and, of course, they don't do any "labor" on a warranty-returned box--they simply ship you back another box). Perhaps this gives you something to compare as against the WeaKnees warranty.

Another thing that Bolt box owners will do (the Bolt box is infamous for running hotter): make sure that there is adequate ventilation around the box, including by elevating it so that there is extra airflow below it--putting water bottle caps or similar under the 4 corners works well for this.

Perhaps WeaKnees will throw that in for free, given the circumstances? Otherwise, you could install freeware pyTivo Desktop onto your computer and try pulling the shows that you really want to keep onto your PC.
