I just noticed my Roamio (Fios cable card) started flashing the colored lights on the front panel. When I turned on the monitor it appeared to have rebooted. Tivo is Starting Up. Then the monitor blanks and flashes no input detected. Changed the HDMI cord and inputs and still does the same thing. Constantly trying to reboot. Unplugged the power for a bit and noticed the power supply felt warm. I'm wondering if this is a similar 2amp power supply issue that was posted in another thread. Is it worth ordering the 3amp suggested?

Should I need to replace it is the Edge my only option? No Tivo at all is not a long term option. It's my wife's hobby so hopefully I can resolve this quickly with your help. Thank you!

Yes. definitely. After that, if any issues, change the hard drive. WD Red Plus recommended, not WD plain Red or Red Pro.

I discovered the same failure today on my Roamio OTA. All lights flashing and would not start.

12V 5A Power Supplies for LED Strip Lights seem to be a good option for replacement. The have the correct plug and can handle the load of a replacement disk. I prefer to use a power supply with a separate power cord and I only buy units that show FCC certification against RF interference. I've purchased several for different uses and once had a DOA unit, but the Amazon seller sent me a replacement which was fine.

It forced me to re-run setup, so I selected express. I had to scan for OTA channels. My recorded shows are still available and my to-do list survived, so it wasn't terrible.

I have many 12 volt and some 5 volt wall wart type power supplies. I recently got this load tester https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KQS74C6

Typically when I have a PS that is starting to go, it will not take even half the rated output before it drops below say 12v. When my tivo adapter was getting pretty hot, and the tivo kept rebooting every day or so, I tested with this and sure enough, it wasn't getting near what it should have.

I also have lots of security cameras that need 12v and use this standard plug (well they seem to have standardized in the last few years). So, I'm always looking for low noise 12v supplies. My tivo supply said 12v 2.0 amps out, and this is the one I replaced my romeao ota with:

2 amps is not enough. See post #5 which points to a 3amp adapter. You could also choose to get a 5 amp from that link.

I think you are right. The 2 amp one is now running warm, 10 deg above room temp by my temp gun. So, I just ordered this one,

https://www.amazon.com/Chanzon-Switching-Adapter-100-240V-Transformer/dp/B07HNV6SBJ

which is 3 amps. I like the brand because it's the one I've found that doesn't make noise on my security cameras (coax HD). I'll try this one and see if it's running cooler, and save the other for a camera supply spare. Can never have enough, esp. when they run 24/7/365

They also have this at 5 amps, just changed my order:
