I am reverting to TE3 on my Roamio Plus. Will I see any difference between the TE3 that came with my premiere and thus version I am getting in my Roamio? I am assuming the picture in the corner never goes away when you go deep into settings. I may be wrong

Hope you knew before you reverted to TE3 that you would lose all your recordings.

I prefer TE3 and have stuck with it. I think it is a little different on Roamio vs Premiere, but not a huge difference. Definitely faster on the Roamio.

I think the Premiere still has some SD menus in the HD interface while the Roamio has all HD menus.

Never used standby. This was at the end of the side grade(don't want to start a war!) I am in TE3 guided setup
I'm a peace lover. The LED may be defective. Does the amber LED still blink when using the remote? It's on the same circuit board and can not be disabled.

Even if the green LED is disabled, that doesn't take effect until the box is finishing boot up.

Premiere also has the option to go old school, i.e. 100% SD menus.

Light never came on. I unplugged and plugged back in I was welcomed by the little TiVo guy and then the "choose your country" screen. All is well. All lights are functioning normally. I have never seen a TiVo that was plugged in NOT have a light on.

There were one or two other posts about the lights on Roamios dying, but I think it was a problem only after many years of use, and I think there is a repair that can be done. I would NOT say that this lights problem is widespread, but seems to limited in number. You may want to see if WeaKnees (reputable on-line TiVo seller/upgrade/repair service located in Culver City--LA area--CA) can fix this and how much it will cost. If you contact them, they can often explain WHY a problem occurs and may have a solution.

I have a Premiere and a TE3 Roamio Plus in the same room and the Premiere does still go to old school menus after choosing saY, "SETTINGS", you will lose the video window and the nice crisp graphics but it gets the job done. So definitely not a duplicate of what we are calling TE3. this is TE2.75

Roamio supports a very fast TE 3 interface with all HD Menus/Submenus.

Premiere supports a pretty decent HD main menu with PIP/TV window in the Main Menu or "My Shows" list. (can show/hide pressing Slow button, or Settings)

[Premiere] The Guide in also HD but has a slight more of a delay in scrolling (PgUp/Down) compared to Guide on a Roamio.

[Premiere] Seeking/FF/RW/Play/Pause in video runs just as fine with HD Menus enabled.

[Premiere] Certain submenus do not exist in HD (i.e. Settings, System Information Menu, Messages, Parental Controls) and will revert temporarily back to SD menus while in these menus thus removing the TV/PIP window while in these specific submenus.

Premiere, unlike Roamio, has the option to still switch to 100% old school SD menus regardless of what type of TV is connected. The older menus do run faster, but the SD menus lack newer features such as no PIP/TV window while in menu, no grouping in recordings (My Shows) and missing other familiar TE3 layouts. The Guide in SD also looks like a cartoon :)

TiVO Mini TE3, whether connected to a Premiere or Roamio, does not have any PIP/video window while going through any of its menus other than Guide. TiVo Mini is only capable of showing TV/PIP window in-menu if upgraded to TE4 (Hydro) which requires the host Roamio or Bolt (not compatible with Premiere) on TE4.

Good point. I believe I need to add this to my TE3 vs TE4 pros/cons list, along with generally reviewing it and updating it for any improvements in TE4.

Yeah, it's one of those few things about TE3 I really do not like or understand...why there is no PIP on the Minis, but TE4 could pull it off. It's the ONLY thing (besides for me, AutoSkip and Voice) with TE4 I think is a plus but still only a big deal for the Minis you want Video/PIP window on the Main Menus/Recordings pages.
