I have a Roamio OTA and recently "upgraded" to TE4 when I upgraded the HD to 3TB.

I've had some issues and mixed feelings about TE4 but anyway...

TE4 runs a bit sluggish on the Roamio and the original Minis... but it seems my Mini VOX (4K) runs much better with TE4 even when accessing the Roamio.

Would there be any issues anyone can think of putting my Roamio OTA near my patch panel in a closet and using it as just a 'server' (with only power, coax and network inputs) to feed Mini VOX's and LUX's so I can enjoy better performance with TE4? Good idea? Bad idea?

The main problem would be if/when you need to manage the experience, with some functions only being possible via the host DVR, unavailable to the Mini's.

If your TV has any open inputs, you could just connect the Roamio OTA to an unused input, and tuck its remote away for when needed. (You could also program distinct IR remote addresses for the boxes, to avoid potential confusion if/when the remotes drop out of RF/BLE mode.)
