Last night Van Helsing ended, and today...for the first time ever in 21 years of TiVo...I have no Syfy/Sci-Fi SP/1Ps.

Literally the end of an era...but really it's been a long time coming, with the network's very slow and lengthy decline over the years.

I could've sworn I saw an ad recently for something coming up on SyFy that made me think, "Oh, I'll have to watch that," but I can't remember what it was, and now I can't find it. (It doesn't help that Google interprets "SyFy" as just a misspelling of "sci-fi".)

I'll be back for Resident Alien season 2, at least.

Probably SurrealEstate. A Chucky series is also set to premiere on SyFy this year.

I liked Van Helsing and Wynonna Earp well enough. I'd say Magicians was the last really good show they had.

I remember when they had Magicians, Killjoys, 12 Monkeys, Expanse, Dark Matter, Van Helsing, Wynonna Earp, all going. But they ended one by one, and have never really been replaced (yeah, I know, Resident Alien, but as I said I really hate that show, and that seems to be the only thing they have still active with only a couple of new shows on the horizon).

It's been a while since I watched a Sy Fy (don't get me started on that name change!) show.

IIRC, the last one I watched was a show where make up artists did these amazing effects with models. I cannot remember the name of the show, but I really liked it. It went on for several seasons and then it ended. I was bummed. Being somebody who is totally NOT artistic, I was constantly gobsmacked by the beautiful artistry of these people.

One of my favorite effects was where the model would be positioned in front of some sort of large display and made up to the point where you couldn't even see the model (if done well, anyway).

SYFY was dead to me years ago. I forgot the channel still exists. Do they still mainly show wrestling?
They haven't shown wrestling on there since 2015 when Smackdown moved to USA

I still can't believe they let The Expanse go over to Amazon Prime.
It just got too expensive to produce, but Amazon had the resources to pick it up and keep it going for another two seasons. The next season will be the last.

SyFy has always been a mixed bag for me. Most of their earlier shows were downright horrible. I can't remember the names of some of the shows that they used to air. I think my brain has a defensive mechanism for blocking out painful incidents in my past.

They usually have one or two shows airing that I find somewhat watchable so I tend to stick with them. They started a new 6-part mini-series last night called Departure starring Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Two episodes aired on Friday and two more tonight with the final two airing on Sunday. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I'm late to The Magicians party. I just started watching it for the first time a couple months ago. I wasn't so sure about it at first, and I almost quit watching, but I'm glad I stuck with it. There was a point in Season 3 where it went from being a good show to a great one. I'm currently midway through Season 4.

I’ve hung in there on SyFy since its very first days, but nowadays they are just missing the boat for me. Of all the things on it only Resident Alien holds any allure and I can get that other ways. The new Chucky spinoff they’ve announced just doesnt’ do it for me at all.

I miss the days of Farscape, Eureka, Warehouse 13 and others they had in the past.

I’ve cancelled out of having a live streaming, cable replacement streamer altogether, saving some money and still have all the stuff I want to watch available to me.

To me Syfy is like every other channel. They go through phases of having a bunch of really good shows and then they can go a while with having nothing I am interested in. I don't see how that is any different then every other channel. Not sure why they get called out for being pretty much just like every other network.

Well, it's different in that this is literally the first time in history (since I got my first TiVo in 2000) that I have had no 1Ps for this channel. So that really is significant, for me at least.
