What's the deal with Daniel's roommate? Why is he trying to sabotage Daniel's relationship with Emily?
And if Jack hadn't stopped by, it seems as though the roommate would have been found out. (Daniel would have stopped in, Emily would have said "where were you?" and Daniel would have said that the roommate said that the dinner was canceled. They then would know the roommate was up to something.)
Or maybe the roommate is just trying to get Daniel back to his hard-partying ways? But again---why?

I'm getting a vibe that Daniel's friend has no money anymore and is trying to sabotage Daniel to get in good with Victoria so she'll take carer of him with some cash or something.

I don't get the college roommate vibe, either. I think we'll find out more in the upcoming episodes about why he is doing what he is doing. Jealousy? Maybe. That seems a bit contrived.

That wouldn't explain why he tried so hard to get Daniel drunk (and remained sober himself). Also, since he definitely has some sort of hidden agenda, why is he bothering to cozy up to...what's her name? The party-planner girl? I can't see how that would further his goal (whatever it may be).(...) so that daniel remains single so he'd have a buddy/place to be/a meal ticket.

I'm sure the reason the friend is setting up Daniel for a fall is far juicier than we realize. I'm very interested to see how it unfolds. But, I think that once the two talk, the friend will be found out some how. Remember that at the beginning of the show they were announcing Emily and Daniel's engagement.

Did they ever show that it was Daniel that was shot? I recall Daniels phone rang but that doesn't mean he had the phone at that time.
No, they were very careful not to show us his face. But when Charlotte saw him, she screamed for her parents. But he could have been wearing Daniel's clothes, or she could have just screamed because she thought it was a dead body. It could have been Tyler, although the hair looked darker to me.Did they ever show that it was Daniel that was shot?
