Replacement Series 3 XL- I think they sent me a lemon

803 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  cappy
I've received an replacement HD XL for my original one
which had problems with the fan.

The replacement Tivo works, records, and views shows, but also locks up.

Twice now when I turned the TV on, the screen was pale gray.
I had to power down & reboot each time.

I've got OS 11.0K, that's the most recent I belive.

My previous Tivo didn't have this issue. So either this OS is bad,
or This tivo is flaky.

Is anyone else having similar issues?

When you see that gray screen, are any lights on the front of the unit lit up? If not, it might be in standby mode. Try hitting the TiVo button or LiveTV button to see if it wakes up. I have no idea why it would be in standby if you did not purposely do it, but try to wake it up anyway before your reboot it. If that works, then we can try to figure out why it is going to standby.

Actually, I wish my TiVos would automatically go into standby any time no button was pushed in about 3 hours - that would prevent the unwanted emergency broadcast tests from ruining so many recordings! But I do not think that is a setup option.

I think only the green light is on, but I don't remember exactly.
I've already got an RMA setup for this one.
