removing 2nd drive from HDVR2 - can i just unplug and take out?

Ok, i have an HDVR2 which i upgraded 4 years ago to have a 2nd, married drive. Since this dtivo is starting to have 2nd tuner problems, I want to take that 2nd bigger drive and put it into my R10 which I'm now making my primary dtivo. So can I just take out the married drive from the HDVR2 and have it boot up and run ok? Or do i need to do something w/ the Primary drive to "divorce" them?

the answer is no. You will have to redo the image on both machines. May I suggest Instantcake from DVRupgrade. I have used it and it works great. You may find more help at WWW.MFSlive.org if you desire to do it yourself.

He would not need to re-image either drive. Using the mfslive boot CD, he could simply "divorce" the second drive on the HDVR2, and then do an "mfsadd" to add it to the R10. He will lose all the recordings on the drive that he moves, but should be able to retain all the recordings on the other two drives.

I went to www.MFSlive.org looked in their manual and divorce is not there. It goes directly to Acoustic Management. The material should be somewhere between page 5 and page 6 Does anyone know where a duplicate manual may be found? One that covers the topic of divorce of drives? Thanks
You might have to sign up to get the beta version for Linux to get the divorce capability.

What you need is in WinMfs.
