Remote Dead?

The red light no longer turns on when you push a button on the remote. I've already replaced the batteries and still nothing. The remote is the original remote from the Series 2 TIVO I bought in 2005. Is it dead?

Does the Tivo box respond to the remote control commands?

If you need to purchase a new Tivo remote then you can get one off of ebay very cheap. The series 2 models are mostly universal.

Watch your remote through the viewfinder of a digital camera. You should be able to see the IR emitter flash when you press a button on the remote.

Yea, no flash so I guess it's dead.
