Recording question

Everytime I turn on my Tivo it says that i have 20 or 30 shows that seem to have been recorded. It's got the little Tivo box next to each show. I'm not recording these. But i can watch them at a later date. Is this common? Do i need to turn something on or off? Mikeymoo at AOL

Sounds like you're describing TiVo suggestions. If the "little tivo box" is a round dot with the tivo logo in it, then that's exactly what they are.

It's one of the features of TiVo. It can be disabled somewhere in the menus.

Those do not tie up any space you may want for your directed recordings (where you tell TiVo to record something).

We have suggestions on. Once in a great while I'll go through that list and watch one, but we use it mainly as a space available indicator. If we see that folder has 50 items in it, you can expect to have room for about that many shows in future directed recordings. Call it 25 hours, at least.

Turn 'Suggestions' on or off

messages and setup > settings > recording > Tivo suggestions

Ground loop? Is the buzzing a 60Hz hum? Make sure your audio connections are tight and clean.

The local NBC affiliate broadcasts all of its programming with a slight 60Hz hum. I even get it on the spare TV in the bedroom.
