I am new here- how do record a dvd while its playing to my tivo???

Are you trying to record to an external DVD recorder? Or do you have one of the DVD TiVos like the Humax or Toshiba models?

Not to be snippy, but did you look in your manual for Saving to a VCR?

Anyway, connect the A/V outputs from the TiVo to the A/V inputs on the DVD recorder. Then select the input on the DVD recorder that the TiVo is connected, start the playback and then select record on the DVD.
