Longtime lurker and finally posting.

I am running the old OS, not Hydra

My Roamio did something new last night. When clicking the LiveTV button to set my tuner to the kid friendly stations before turning off the TV for the night it flashed into a reboot, and was continuing the reboot/startup loop.

I did the normal unplug everything for 30 sec and try again with no luck. I even removed and reinstalled the CableCard, as that corrected some issues in the past.
I found an old thread reference about sometimes reboots would work with either the coax or network cable removed. I had luck getting a full start with everything but the cable coax hooked up.

Once I had that I tried to hook up the coax and a picture appeared for a moment in the upper window, then triggered the reboot/startup loop again.

Any ideas? Never had any issues with the cable itself in year of use on this and other previously replaced tivos (it's always been harddrive or hardware issues). Would trying to get my cable company to re-pair the CableCard work, or maybe a new CableCard is needed? All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Nathan

If you have the base Roamio with the external power supply you might want to try a different power supply. You might even have a 12vdc 2000ma (2amp) power supply lying around to test with. Although I'd never imagine that the coax would cause a reboot, it's worth a shot.

Interesting, did some more testing and it booted up fine with just the power and tv output hooked up.

I then added cable card, as it instructed, and then the call cable company to start service for the device

Might be that my cable card went nutty, I'll give them a try and post results when I get some time.

If I had to guess, I'd still put my money on the power supply - the common thread is "with one thing removed/disconnected, it starts up fine" which implies to me that the PSU isn't strong enough for the peak power of everything being connected while starting up. You want a 12v 3a pin-positive connector.

Not sure what happened, but this weekend after just being hooked up to the tv and the internet (so I could still watch shows from my other tivo wifi connected to it) I put the cable card in and it started working again.

Fingeres crossed it keeps working. Could have been something wrong externally (cable card, cable signal etc.)

aaaaaand we're back.

After working perfectly for 1 week, it is stuck in the green, red/blue flash loop. I can hear the hard drive start to spin up and then it restarts again. So it doesn't even make it to the point where it works w/o cable plugged in.

Is there a way to test the power supply with a multimeter. Of better yet, is there a more reliable power supply available. My old tivos with the on-board power supplies have never had issues.

As mentioned above, try a 12v 3a pin-positive DC supply. This one should do TiVo Bolt Power Supply (White) - 1.5TB DIRECTV DVRs - WeaKnees - the DVR Superstore
