I assume you've tried to bypass any splitters to see if a signal issue might be the problem?
It sounds more and more like the driver (module) supporting OpenCable hardware on the TivoHD has some serious bugs that need to be worked out, especially when it comes to Scientific Atlanta cards.
I'm still finding it difficult to believe that something that major wasn't caught by testers. Since many like yourself with SA cards experienced this problem from day one, and presumably testers did as well, why didn't Tivo fix it back in May? That's a 'showstopper' -- it should have been atop their list of things to fix.
If the individual responsible for the TivoHD beta program didn't ensure that there were an array of testers using Scientific Atlanta Cablecards...they should be out of a job. I notice the Tivo beta application doesn't ask the individual to specify whether their system uses Motorola or Scientific Atlanta hardware...that seems like a pretty significant oversight to me.
